When Chad DiMeara returned to Salem, he certainly knew how to make an entrance. He pulled a gun on his brother. Well...wouldn't you if your brother slept with your girlfriend? Do you think he's back for revenge? Or are his plans to take over the DiMeara empire?
According to Billy Flynn, who plays Chad, "I'm out to get it all," he jokingly said. "I'm a DiMeara and I want what I have coming."
Flynn has been on the show only a few short weeks, but his acting talent and ability is really beginning to shine. Casey Deidrick, previously played Chad and Flynn is now out to make his mark by taking Chad to new heights.
"It's awesome. It is fun to come in and be a bad ass," Flynn said. "I love the character, and to see where he (Chad) goes is real interesting."
Flynn, has a college degree in Finance and Economics from St. Cloud University in Minnesota and said that even though he is proud of his college accomplishments, it was acting that was always in his blood.
"I came out to Los Angeles and thought I'd see what happens. My interest in acting goes way back," Flynn said. "This is something I just knew I wanted to do and pursue."
Flynn moved to Hollywood and landed a job as an analyst at Warner Bros to pay his bills. Moving from Minnesota is just culture shock in itself, but he is adjusting.
He got an agent and a manager, and as they say...the rest is history. Although devoted to his craft and career, he has been training with acting coach Anthony Meinde for two years, saying that improving his craft and acting technique is what it's all about. He also added that acting is a passion and he loves to study other peoples work.
Flynn landed a role in the short film "80 in 10," and he did a Taco Bell commercial, as well as a guest role on "Hawaii Five-O" playing opposite Melanie Griffith.
Flynn got a call to audition for the role of Chad on Days of our Lives and said that is a day and audition he will never forget. "I was in a room with some of the best looking guys in LA, and when I got the call back I was ecstatic," he said. "I came back to screen-test with Kate Mansi (Abby), who is just wonderful, and I won the role. I will tell you that now that I have this role and am a working actor, I can tell you there will be no more tuna and crackers."
Flynn admits that his first day on set he was "a mess" and "scared stiff,",but it was the wonderful cast and crew that made him feel welcome and helped ease his tension.
Flynn said someday his hopes are to explore other facets of the industry. He loves film and enjoys the dark characters and would even enjoy a bit of comedy.
"Yes! I enjoy doing a little of everything," he said. "Versatility, I believe, is key to this business, but right know I'm thrilled to be here."
Flynn said his off time is spent with his new girlfriend and he enjoys playing hockey, golf, and just hanging out with friends.
Soapdom wants to know if you have any message to your fans? "Well! I'm not sinister (laughing). I came in as a recast and I'm so happy I was accepted, which I know is hard. But I guarantee it will be interesting and the best is yet to come, so keep watching."
