Most days, I love to wear things that are comfortable but stylish. My personal style is a little bit of country and a little bit of rock-n-roll, so I like to throw on a great pair of jeans, some rustic Frye boots and a square or v-neck blouse to show off a cool necklace or drop earrings.
Since jeans are the “it” apparel and a way of life in LA – you can wear them to auditions, to work and then out to a hot night on the town – you have to make sure you look great in them. A pair of jeans that don’t fit well are a definite denim don’t. Toss them out right now! To become a denim do – look for jeans that fit well and come in a dark wash (I swear they have magic in them, making you look immediately slimmer. What girl doesn’t want that!?).
Heidi Mages (my business partner) and I have become true jean aficionados and we have discovered the ideal pair of jeans for men and woman --- Kasil! Kasil’s hit you and hug you in all the right places and look great whether you are going to the market or out dancing. The best part about these jeans is that the material is soft so they give you a comfortable feel with plenty of stretch room all the while making you look fabulous. They have tons of cuts and colors so you are sure to find the one that flatters you the most. Kasil’s be found in many boutiques and some department stores or you can check them out online at www.kasiljean.com.
Many celebrities, including super celebs like Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt, have made jeans a popular choice for hitting the red carpet or the streets of Manhattan. But you have to follow their lead and dress up your denim. Ladies, make sure you have a sexy pair of heals, a slinky, sexy blouse that makes you feel beautiful, a great hand bag and a simple necklace or earrings. The Lowd Suga’ Leaf Key Ring necklace, simple hoop earrings, and red leather double wrap bracelet are my favorite items to achieve this look.
For the men, a nice chocolate brown or black tailored blazer, button up shirt, a very cool leather choker, and a pair of sleek designer boots is all you need to achieve that celebrity look.
No matter what you are wearing, the celeb rule that everyone should follow is whatever your look, you have to own it. Stand up straight, put on a great smile and you are sure to look incredible whether or not you are wearing just jeans.
Soap Skin Q&A
Ever wonder how Soap Opera Actresses get that picture perfect skin? Well, achieving the look can be easy. Here are my easy simple easy tips to getting Soap Opera Skin:
* Think skin deep: Before you even apply one stitch of make-up, the most important thing to remember is you must take care of what goes underneath your make-up, your skin. I always suggest going to a dermatologist first to help you assess your skin. When you are there be sure to ask what over the counter products you can use to take care of you skin.
* More is not always better: The key to great skin is in the facial skin care products that work well on your face. This doesn’t mean dropping hundreds of dollars on department store products, you just need to be aware your skin type and find products that compliment it.
* Keep it simple: Create and maintain beautiful, glowing skin with this simple routine -- a gentle cleanser, a scrub to remove the dead skin particles from the surface and a good moisturizer. Many products like Neutrogena or even Aveeno (especially for sensitive skin) are great products to help you achieve your goals.
* Kiss and Make-up: Once you’ve taken care of your skin, you have the perfect base for applying your make-up. Think of your face as a blank canvas and your finished look a work of art. My must haves are: a well matched foundation; a light shimmer-y eye shadow for the brow line and mascara to make the eyes pop; a little bit of blush to give me that sun-kissed look; and glossy lips, usually in a pretty pink. Don’t forget to fill in your eyebrows or have them shaped into a nice arch – It is the easiest way to make you look refreshed in seconds!
Don’t be afraid to do a little research before you dip your brush. I like to check out websites such as www.maybelline.com. These sites are a great resource for professional beauty tips about application, what products to use and all the latest tips and trends from industry insiders.
