Look out Salem! The Doctor is in the house, and he may even make house calls.
Nathan Owens came on the Days of our Lives canvas over the holidays as the new Dr. Cameron Davis (previously played by Schuyler Yancey) and he can kind of be referred to as the "man of mystery."
"Oh Yea! Without a doubt. I have issues that will soon come out," Owens said. "Let's just say that there are skeletons in my closet and some deep secrets, and soon everything will start coming to a (breaking) point."
Owens won the role after his manager called telling him that the Days casting office wanted him to come in for a read. "I got there with 15 other guys. Boy, talk about sweating it out," Owens said. "I read for a character named Rodney and was asked to do some revision to my reading and I landed up being Cameron."
He screen tested on the set with Kate Mansi (Abby) and within a half hour he received the call that he won the role. "I was over the moon. I can't even describe the excitement. But I knew when they asked me to read again I just thought to myself...this is good. But I admit I always prepare in this business for the worst, and I still do."
His first day on the set was described as a "Madhouse" and "Totally insane." Being the new kid on the block is never easy. "I have to tell you...on set my first day was a holiday show and everyone was like, who is this? And almost the entire cast was there," Owens explains. "I was like holy crap. I was scared out of my wits."
Owens said the cast was unbelievable. They made him feel welcome and were as helpful as ever in making him feel like he was really a part of something.
Owens has a love for the entertainment business. He has worked as a fashion model for Ralph Lauren, The Gap, Izod and Ermanno Scervino among others. He also appeared as a love interest in Rhianna's music video called "California King Bed".
"Working with her was wonderful. She was so great. I mean everything was just so beautiful." Some other goals down the road would be to do movies and remain versatile in the business.
Soapdom wants to know what you want your fans to know about you? "Oh Boy (laughing) I love comedy. I am a huge fan. I can give a joke and I can take a joke. But I would never go as far as do stand-up."
