He smoked and he drank! He was diagnosed when he was 61 yrs. old. Everything went very well! Then he would not go back for his yearly check-ups, and there was nothing we could do! Nine years later, he had oral cancer full blown. He had Many surjeries and had much of his tongue removed,jawbone and had radiation treatment! Then he went back a few yrs. later and wanted reconstructive surjery. It was too late. They found it in the upper jawbone and nothing could be done! My dad died at the age of 74. It was a horrible death as he could not eat, he had a tube in his stomach and he could barely talk! So early detection and regular check-ups are a must! I have tests done for this every year or so. Unfortunaltlly I cannot kick my smoking habit, but I haven't drank in over seven years! Those two things are major reasons for this type of cancer! So I also suggest everyone get screened, as Coleen, did not smoke or drink! And she can tell you how wicked this cancer is! I keep trying to quit smoking. Doing the Electronic Cigarettes right now!
