"The man truly gets it..."

Bryan Datillo (Lucas) and Alison Sweeney (Sami) of Days of our LivesDear Soapdom,

As a veteran DAYS viewer, I couldn’t be more thrilled that Mr. Hogan Sheffer has been hired as their new head writer. After viewing the messages he has sent viewers, via the media, it is clear to me that Mr. Sheffer not only recognizes what DAYS has lacked, in recent years, but plans to make the changes needed to once again make it the outstanding daytime drama it used to be. He understands how “unique” the show is and the importance of writing for couples. How overjoyed I was to hear this man speak of Marlena and the plans he has for her. Hearing him speak of her as the show “matriarch,” an “icon,”  the central character, and his plans to return her into being the “heroine” she’s always been to me, left me absolutely ecstatic! I become gitty just thinking about it. LOL!   I also enjoyed hearing of his plans for Bo/Hope, Shawn/Belle and Lucas/Sami. When Sheffer mentioned his plan to reestablish the roots of the show, look back into history and actually use it, while delivering storylines the veteran fans will appreciate, I was nearly moved to tears. The man TRULY gets it and I couldn’t be more delighted that he is here. Everything he said in his interviews seemed almost too dreamy, but he has my attention. Sounds like he is ready to take us on exciting adventures that will lead to fabulous rewards. It’s been a very long time since I have said this, but I am sincerely looking forward to seeing what’s waiting for us. I’m scared, nervous, excited and filled with much anticipation for what’s next. It’s something I haven’t felt about DAYS in so many years and it feels GREAT! I can’t wait!!

All My Children's Walt Willey opens up about being a stand up comic

All My Children may be off the air, but one of it’s most, charming, debonair, drop dead gorgeous, and hilariously funny stars, none other than Walt Willey (Jackson Montgomery), is out on the road again doing his stand up comedy act.  On Sunday, May 18, Willey hits the Detroit area, starring for one night at Comedy Castle in Royal Oak, MI.

Soapdom’s Laurie Bedigian caught up with Willey over the weekend via email and asked a few questions about his comedic roots, his love of acting, his comedy heroes and more.  Plus, he shares a bit about what the audience can expect on show night.  All I can say is the subject of sex may be involved.  Say what?  I’ll let Willey clear that one up for you.  LOL
