Y&R fan wonders who played Col. Austin?

Could you please tell me who played the role of "Douglas Austin" on Young and Restless for many years?  Also what ever became of him, is he still living?  Just curious.  Thanks so much.

Dear Lisa,

Hi and thanks for writing.  Col. Douglas Austin (1980-1985; 1987-1995) on The Young and the Restless was played by Michael Evans. As far as we can tell, Evans is still alive, but is about 80 years old. He was born in 1926 in Sittingbourne, Kent, England, UK. Evans last film credit is a movie called "Return Home" released in 1990 where he played a character called "Pieman."
