The signal and battery are weak and the line is cut before Michael knows what is really going on. All Michael knows for certain is he must get to Clear Springs. Gloria and Kevin tag along.

SOAPDOM NEWSWIRE: “Now, on the ground in Clear Springs, reporting just yards from the hole rescue workers have made to pull the bodies of the dead and living from the rubble, we await word on the fate and condition of: Lauren Finmore, international business woman, Paul Williams, Genoa City Private Detective, Maggie Sullivan, Genoa City PD, and young Noah Newman who is reported to be seriously injured. As this reporter looks around; the four trapped below and still presumed alive have many loved ones on hand anxiously waiting their exit from the dilapidated structure. Still, there is no word on Senator Jack Abbott’s whereabouts or condition, things are not looking up for the scandalous Senator. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. We will keep you posted as survivors and bodies are removed.” End report
Below, Lauren has an emotional breakdown that requires astute attention from Paul. Maggie helps nurse Noah the best she can in the confined space. Maggie has her hands full with Noah, but it doesn’t go unnoticed that her boyfriend has a very close connection to his former wife. Maggie wonders if she will ever be as close to Paul as Lauren has been, and remains to be, as she watches Lauren weep and Paul holds her. They talk about personal memories, both past and present, to help get Lauren’s focus off the severity of the situation at hand.
Paul and Maggie are determined to move the stranded group as far as they can. Noah has suffered injury to his rib cage, making movement and breathing aborious. Paul does his best to find a way out while utilizing what resources he can from their surroundings. Noah is all of the adults' number one priority. Movement from those trying to locate trapped bodies (dead and alive) and the struggle to keep moving forward, causes mini-avalanches that stir up a lot of dust further making it more difficult to breathe for Noah. Just as things seem to settle and Lauren is calm, Noah’s pulse starts to dwindle and his temperature spikes.
SOAPDOM NEWSWIRE: ”A family member of Lauren Fenmore has built a website ClearSprings.com for friends and family members to track the status of their loved ones who may be in the vicinity. We spoke with Mr. Kevin Fisher, a computer expert and enthusiast. Though he was busy, he took time to tell us that he is keeping a positive attitude and plans to man the website as long as it takes. He jokes that his girlfriend, who is also in prison with Phyllis Newman, is worried he will go into or close to the crumbled shell of the building, but he assures her his expertise is with computers not rescuing people. Mr. Fisher’s brother, Michael Baldwin, has gotten word that the Newman family received a grim update. The search is growing too dangerous to move forward. Right now many family members and friends fear they will not return home with those they hold dearest. You can feel the pain in the air as family members wait, helplessly.“ End report.
Jack is injured, scared and alone but he doesn’t stop moving. Jack seems to have accepted his fate but continues to struggle over and around concrete boulders and obstacles. Already weak, the constant coughing from the thick dust only sucks what little strength and energy he has left. Pebbles and debris fall in on Jack.
SOAPDOM NEWSWIRE: “Live, in Clear Springs, rescue workers are attempting to remove survivors from the structure. Family members are rushing to see who will be pulled from the rubble. As the seconds pass and everyone strains to catch the first glimpse of the bodies and hoping it is their loved ones, things appear to be in slow motion as we wait. We see the sea of bodies part to reveal the name that has been on everyone’s lips this last hour. Little Noah Newman is lifted out, strapped to a back board but alive! There is enormous joy right now in the wake of a heartbreaking day. With Noah Newman it appears all three adults he was trapped with are okay -- each emerging on their own two feet. As happy as we are here at Soapdom for these four lives to be spared, there is bad news. Lauren Finmore has reported an employee of her company, Amber Moore, was on the premises. There is no word yet on Miss Moore’s whereabouts, but she is presumed to be amongst the still missing. For immediate updates on survivors, and interviews with victims and loved ones of victims keep your eyes glued to Soapdom.com.” End report.
As relief for the four lives saved helps tension above ground, below is a different story. Katherine awakes disoriented and alone, weak and unable to make sense of the horror that surrounds her.
