|Young and the Restless Summer Preview 2009|
Page 1 of 2Hold on to your remotes, fans. Summer in the City -- Genoa City -- is just around the corner and it’s going to be HOT, HOT, HOT! Plus, it looks like what is going to be a heat wave of HOT storylines rolling in for the summer months will hang around warming up the fall and winter as well, so much for global warming.
I have heard and read in the industry buzz that Maria Arena Bell has set out to undo everything Lynn Marie Latham spent years creating for Young and the Restless. Latham, multi-award winner and greatly responsible for making Young & the Restless the number one daytime drama for well over 1000 weeks in a row. Many fans felt her loss when she left the show. The quality of the future has been highly questioned and criticized, but after this article and summer spoiler you’ll agree that Young & the Restless is better than ever.
Bell has brought a fresh approach to history and core characters. As we have recently seen, the very controversial issue of Katherine and Jill’s relationship, was over turned just as viewers had accepted the fact that enemies were now mother and daughter. What brought this to our attention was a fun walk down memory lane reminding us our past can creep up on us at any time and our enemies can be lurking anywhere at any time.
The revision of Clint and Marge in Katherine’s life was the first step in reminding us of the show’s history and long standing relationships with the actors who portray our favorite characters and have for decades. It also set the show on a path that will forever change the face of the show both past and present.
Currently, we learn Cane isn’t the goody-two-shoes long lost son of Jill’s that Katherine gave away. Wednesday, June 10, 2009, Cane referred to his phone buddy “Langley” (who happens to be the actor that originally played Phillip Chancellor Thom Bierdz) as “Phillip.”
Yes, readers I said he called Langley Phillip and referred to “your wife” meaning Nina. This shakes up the entire make up of this storyline which I felt was really lacking and not jiving with history.
Phillip is alive! Never actually perishing in a drunk driving accident. How will this affect Jill? Katherine? Poor Billy who has forever lived in the shadow of his dead half-brother’s memory? Nina? Nina and Phillip’s son and name sake Phillip IV, whom the role has recently been filled by John Driscoll (formerly Coop of Guiding Light)?
This story has everyone buzzing, but this is just the tip of the iceberg, readers. Young & the Restless reportedly is going to blow this great retro story out of the water with a much heavier turn of events and biological connection. To wit...
Sharon’s baby’s father is going to be revealed and the daddy is Nick!
I’m still not done. What comes next is going to blow long time fans out of the water. Something is just not right about the DNA results. Some eyebrows are cocked and questions asked, by late Summer it is going to be revealed that Jack is Summer’s father.
Okay readers stick with me. I promised a huge summer spoiler that would rock the world of Genoa City citizens far beyond the massive Clear Springs explosion in the fall of 2007.
Remember when Nick got the paternity test results for Summer and left town for a few days? Nick returned and told Phyllis he was the father. Viewers and the characters just accepted this as the truth would come out down the line. When the truth is revealed this summer after years of anticipation, viewers and characters are going to get much more than they ever bargained for or imagined. I personally just assumed Nick lied because he is a spoiled little brat and wants what he wants; but could it be, maybe the test results weren’t exactly conclusive or black and white definitive? What about the recent Chloe/Cane/Billy botch?
Sharon’s sleeping around with Jack and Nick, among others, is going to open a Pandora’s box of secrets and lies dating back over 20 years that really has nothing to do with Sharon at all. How can this be? Through the current baby/daddy questions Jack is going to learn Summer isn’t his only child living in Genoa City all these years. Jack and Nick will learn the reason they have always been close, is not because Jack was an influence and father-figure when Nick was a youngster, but because Jack IS Nick’s father!
Is the ground rumbling under your feet at just the idea of this? Jack is finally going to gain victory over Mr. Mumbles. The story and drama possibilities are endless with this revelation. Victor will go around beating his chest and
