Guess it's not enough to be the featured cast member of one of CBS's top sitcoms. Guess it's not enough to have directed the Los Angeles performance of "Rent" at the Hollywood Bowl last summer. Guess it's not enough to have hosted the Tony Awards.
Nah. None of this is enough for Neil Patrick Harris, star of CBS' How I Met Your Mother, who took it upon himself to call the Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden (Victor) a "d-bag," onhis Twitter feed. This according to the Hollywood Reporter who shares that Harris was simply upset with Braeden for backing out of a guest starring gig on How I Met Your Mother because the role wasn't beefy enough.
According to reports, Braeden backed out at the last minute, and thus, Harris, who is very protective of the show, lashed out with the "d-bag" comment.
Braeden, on the other hand, did not take the situation lightly and said that Harris "needs to be spanked" and that he could "get his teeth knocked in for that kind of nonsense."
"It was utterly inappropriate. He's a little boy," Braeden told The Hollywood Reporter. However, Braeden continued by saying that he would not be spanking Harris. "I need a worthy adversary. I don't even know who this fellow is!"
Ohhh, slap down to Harris. What, didn't Braeden ever hear of Doogie Hauser? But we digress.
The Hollywood Reporter shares that Braeden confirmed he did in fact back out at the last minute because he was "exhausted" due to work and recent hip surgery and because the part only required two lines -- which he found out about at the last minute.
"Two lines, I don't do that for anyone," he says. However, given the season, he also stated that “It’s Christmas time and I will forgive him for my verbal transgressions."
At the same time, Harris apologized tweeting "Now I feel bad for the D-bag comment. Don't know the guy personally. I'm just fiercely protective of our show."
