Eric Braeden (Victor, Young and the Restless)TVGuide.com is reporting that Eric Braeden, who has played Victor Newman, the intense patriarch of Genoa City for the last 27 years, has again come to terms with the show and signed a new three-year contract on October 23, 2009.

Last September, the show asked its actors to take pay cuts in lieu of the network reducing the licensing fee to produce the program. As Soapdom reported, although he wasn't completely adverse to the salary reduction, Braeden balked at the way the whole matter was broached. He took it as a personal affront, after all his long years of work and dedication to the show to be treated poorly in his eyes by the show's producers in this regard and said as much to Entertainment Weekly online. He was set to exit November 2nd when his character heads off to a spa in Europe so that Victor can recover from his heart surgery.

But low and behold, the fan outcry was too loud for the show to ignore and it got both Braeden and the show back to the negotiating table.

"It's an emotional rollercoaster because you react in anger, you have regrets, you want to get even," Braeden told TV Guide of the negotiations. "It's all these things you feel in so many relationships that are difficult."

But the fans made an impact on the Genoa City mainstay. "In the end, you realize only in moments like this how what you do as actor or an artist affects people and that is a wonderful thing to know."

The bottom line is that Braeden is happy to return to work. "I want to put this behind me and get back to doing what I do best and enjoy the most. There's so much story to tell. Victor is going to come back ready to fight."

Interesting thing here is that the show was confident all along that they would come to terms with Braeden.  When Soapdom asked Lee Phillip Bell her thoughts on the matter of his walking out, she replied simply:  "He'll be back."

And so he is...

As the World Stops Turning: Thoughts on the Cancellation of As the World Turns

With candid comments from Helen Wagner (Nancy), Eileen Fulton (Lisa), Yvonne Perry (ex Rosanna) and Jeanne Cooper (Kay, Young and the Restless)

When I heard (on Soapdom) that As the World Turns is being cancelled, all I can say is that my afternoons will never be the same. I come before you to reveal that when I heard the news, it was like my world suddenly stopped turning. In fact, you can say, it crashed.

Not only as a writer/reporter have I done stories on the show and its stars, but I also have been an avid watcher and fan for more years than I care to admit. I've visited the set, met and interviewed many of the stars, and can truly say that
