David Hasselhoff (Snapper, Y&R)Snapper heads back to Genoa City!

Soapdom has learned that "The Hoff" himself, off his successful stint as one of the judges of "America's Got Talent" -- and famed star of "Baywatch" and "Knight Rider" -- is on his way back to his early stomping grounds, The Young and the Restless. He will reprise the role of Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Jr. for a short time in late spring according to TV Guide online. However, it was Entertainment Weekly that broke the story.

For those of you who may not recall, Hasselhoff took over the role of Snapper from William Grey Espy and played the handsome doctor from 1975 to 1982 when the character left town to pursue a medical fellowship in London.

"Playing Snapper in 850 shows during the six years I appeared molded my craft, my attitude and my work eithic," said Hasselhoff in a statement. "Beinig asked to come back to appear in several episodes gives me a chance to say thanks, as I have an amazing amount of respect and heartfelt emotion for Bill (Bell, co-creator of Y&R), his family and my time on the Young and the Restless. I just hope I can remember all tohse lines!"

Taping in May, watch for the Snapper scenes to begin airing in mid-June. All Soapdom can say is "Welcome back to Daytime, Dave!"
