Sorry for the delay of Candidly speaking for the week of July 7, 2008. I had out of town company that required much of my time, I‘m sure everyone knows how that goes.
The bulk of this week’s storylines that are notable are about the younger crowd in Genoa City. Young & the Restless welcomes back Daniel. The return seemed a little pointless more like time filler than actual storyline.
Amber whined and worried that Daniel would learn she slept with Adrian. Amber didn’t give Daniel the time to learn it on his own, fearing Phyllis was hot on her heels. Amber confessed Friday. I’m sure we’ll see more fall out from her confession, but this week didn’t offer much in the way of entertainment for Daniel, his best bud Kevin and their gal pals. The highlight was Phyllis flinging Amber’s slip in her face after discovering it on the Restless Style floor.
Across town is where the drama was taking place. Chloe didn’t hold back when she and Cane stormed into Lily’s house. Cane was furious Chloe followed and blurts out “we had sex!”
Lily snapped, a long time coming when it comes to Chloe, while Cane paced in the back ground. Cane warned Chloe later she didn’t want to play games with him….. Is this one of those soap threats that hints at what is to come? Could Chloe’s future be grave? Cane’s anger and frustration over the lies Chloe is spreading was decent acting, but Daniel Goddard (Cane’s portrayer) plays a bad fake drunk. It was painfully comical watching him appear to be blitzed. Drunk is a subject best left to someone else for this show.
By the end of the week Lily claimed she believed Cane when he tells her he didn’t sleep with Chloe but it still troubles her. Will Lily turn to ex-hubby for comfort and friendship in light of his own love troubles? I’d like to see Daniel and Lily reconnect, even if it is just as good friends.
Lily telling Chloe exactly what kind of witch she is wasn’t the only fight this week. I had my doubts about Victoria being the cover model. After seeing her, I liked the look for her and it was perfect for the argument that was to come between her and Sabrina. Just as the last minute photo shoot was under way, Sabrina bursts through the door calling Victoria a bitch. I couldn’t believe it! How do you act so childish in a place of business and then turn around and demand respect?
I just don’t like Sabrina. I held my breathe during the argument in hopes that Victoria wouldn’t begin to quiver like a Chihuahua. Victoria didn’t let me down, she refused to apologize to Sabrina and continued to point out Sabrina’s flaws as a friend and a wife.
This wasn’t exactly the catfight I had hoped for; but it was better than Vikki and Sabrina running into each other at Crimson Lights and Victoria snubbing Sabrina, while Sabrina longs for their friendship again. A physical fight, especially with Victoria in that wig and flapper dress would have been cool though.
Poor Nikki, I spoke highly of her a month ago and now I have to say she has become so pathetic justifying and begging David to be with her. I just can’t stand seeing her or David on screen lately.
This week Skye wiped David out again at a poker game. Afterwards she was at the airport, looks up and asks “what are you doing here?” The person she was talking to never appeared. I’m thinking it was David, and he killed her as that final “job” for Walter.
This story has potential and we don’t have to worry or be bored with a long drawn out murder case if what I suspect is true, because David’s portrayer will be exiting the show. His personal website confirmed Vincent Izzarry will exit in approximately five weeks, so we can expect any storylines involving David to be wrapped up in the near future.
On a final note I want to point out the new promo ads CBS is running for all of their soaps. These are really good, eye-catching. Interesting because they show a teaser of what to come mixed in with some random shots of the stars on different sets with different co-stars. Some of the best promo work CBS has done in a while.
