Days of Our Lives is proud to welcome Valerie Wildman to its cast of talented performers. Wildman portrays Fay Walker, a woman with a heart of gold despite unfortunate circumstances. "I have played so many rich and shallow women," states Wildman, "that playing Fay Walker, with her humility and compassion, feels like a blessing! I hope Fay will inspire others who are going through hard times." Wildman was born in Miami Beach, Florida and attended Miami Beach High where she juggled academics, theater, and her overwhelming desire to be involved in social services. She graduated from the University of Florida (GO GATORS! Sorry. My school! ;o) with a degree in psychology and attended graduate school at Sonoma State in Northern California, all the while dreaming of acting and finding a way to combine drama with helping others. Wildman holds a Masters Degree in Counseling and worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in the barrios of the Cartagna Mountains in Columbia. At the end of her Peace Corps tenure, she backpacked through Columbia, Ecuador and the Peruvian Andes, "through hail, snow and rainbows," and realized she wanted to expand her theatrical efforts to make a difference by developing film and television projects that "uplift the human spirit." Thus, her production company, Wildwind Productions, was born. Upon arriving in LA after the Peace Corps, Wildman appeared in numerous films and television series including playing the love interest of Jack McCoy in Beverly Hills 90210 against former DOOL star Josh Taylor. In 1995 she won the prestigious Dramalogue Award for her Marilyn Monroe-like portrayal of Helen of Troy in Trojan Women. Before joining the cast of DOOL, she just finished a role in the upcoming film Cast Away, starring Tom Hanks and Nick Searcy scheduled for December, 2000 release.
Days of Our Lives is also delighted to welcome Heather Lauren Olson (Jan) to Salem. Jan is a self-centered, trouble-making, obnoxious Salem High student. "If I really treated people that way, I would have no friends," states Olson. "But it is fun playing a character that I would never act like in real life!" Born in San Jose, CA, Olson started modeling and doing commercials at the age of 2 1/2. A top fashion model saw Heather and suggested to her parents that she should pursue modeling. She landed an agent in San Francisco and soon booked her first professional modeling job, a cover for a Christmas catalog. She then became one of San Francisco's top models, appearing on countless covers, catalogs, greeting cards, toy packages, commercials, ads in Vogue and Elle magazines, fashion shows and clothing hang tags. Jesse McClintock children's dresses still have a picture of a very young Olson on the hangtag! After three years of doing countless commercials and print work, Olson caught the acting bug and soon landed an agent in LA. Her first role was stepdaughter to Richard Gere in Internal Affairs. She later appeared in the feature of Leave it to Beaver, along with numerous music videos including Julian Lennon and Don Henley. When Olson was almost 8 years old, her family decided to relocate to LA permanently. She then added many more commercials to her list of credits, along with numerous television appearances on both drama and sitcom series. Just prior to her joining DOOL, she just finished shooting a pilot for HBO called Another Shot starring with S eth Green (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Austin Powers.)
