Dear Suds Buds,

In soapdom, where time can seemingly stand still, we see storylines go on forever. Or so it seems.  Days take weeks. Weeks take years.  Imagine being the actors and having to wear the same wardrobe for two or three weeks in a row.  LOL.  At the last Passions Fan lunch in 2003, a fan asked McKenzie Westmore (Sheridan) if the outfit she had on in the shaft was ever washed. “No,” she said, making a face. “You can have her,” Galen Gering (Luis) shouted out to Christopher Douglas (Antonio), his brother and the other man vying for Sheridan’s love and affection. Speaking of the Passions Fan Lunch be sure to check Soapdom’s Seeing Stars. We just got the heads up on the Passions Fan Lunch for 2004.

Time may drag on in soaps, but in real life, it seems that for me especially, there are just not enough hours in the day.  Especially now with some of my new ventures kicking in.  They are keeping me out of the Soapdom office most of the week, and on weekends, I am a Talent Scout. Life is busy, busy, busy, and I can’t believe that it’s already 8 PM LA time on Monday, and I am only just now writing this week’s Top of the Week column.

It’s times like this that I yearn to move to Genoa City, Llanview, Pine Valley, Salem, Oakdale or any fictitious soap town.  For two reasons:

1) Time stands still.
2) There is never a shortage of seed money to start new ventures. Where’s an Adam Chandler or a Victor Newman when you need one?

But I digress!  The real purpose of today’s Top of the Week is to introduce you to Soapdom’s new contributor. His name is Darcy Fournier, a happily married dad, and ardent ABC soaps fan.  He’s been watching General Hospital for about 25 years -- thanks to an arrangement he had with his mom, another die hard GH fan, when she went off to work. But he tells you all about that in this, the first week of his new weekly column called “The Soap Scope.”

Darcy’s Soap Scope will put ABC soaps under a microscope every week, and he plans to tell it as he sees it.  If you agree, or disagree, let him know.  You can find his email on the main page of his new Soap Scope column.  Your email could then be the subject of his next column!  You’ll even see him out on the Soapdom Message Boards, so be sure to introduce yourself, and welcome him to Soapdom.com!

We are also delighted to invite you to nominate your favorites in the 5th Annual Soapdom Cybby Awards! Voting for the Cybby Awards is a two-step process.

1) Nominate your favorites for the fun categories.
2) Vote for the Emmy and Fun categories shortly thereafter.

You must be a registered member with either free or paid status to be eligible to vote.  Peeved that your favorites did not get on the ballot last time?  Well, what are you waiting for? You gotta nominate first!  Nominations accepted now through March 31, 2004.

Oh and don't forget to check out the winners of the previous Cybby Awards.

Til the top of next week,

Linda Marshall-Smith
CEO, Soapdom, Inc.

Inside the Bubble ~ Kelly Sullivan

Getting to know ‘General Hospital’s’ Kelly Sullivan

During a recent trip to Michigan, Kelly Sullivan (Kate/Connie) was gracious enough to grant Soapdom an interview.

Sullivan and co-star Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) were in Michigan to host a fan event in the beautiful city of Troy.

The talented actress was more than happy to chat about her new experience in daytime, as well as the road she traveled before arriving in Port Charles.
