Dear Suds Buds:
Several weeks ago, Tizoog, one of Turtle-Run.com's more prolific posters reached a milestone. He contributed 5000 posts to our message board community. I congratulated Tiz on his accomplishment and thanked him for his participation at Turtle-Run. As I knew there were a few others who had likewise reached this lofty number, I thought it might be fun to bestow some soap-related prizes to the first poster to reach 10,000 posts! No sooner did I post this on our message boards, several community members informed me that we already had someone who had posted 10,000. In fact, they'd posted close to 13,000 messages in just slightly over one year of registered membership. That wonderful poster is none other than our very own Louisak, who joined Turtle-Run.com October 2, 2000. Well known for her love of Passions and Days of our Lives, Louisak has even contributed to our As the World Turns board and a few others.
Louisak first found Turtle-Run.com while surfing the net at school. "I wasn't all that familiar with the internet," she admitted to me over the phone last week. "But I did know the NBC website. I was surfing there at that site and I and saw a link to Turtle-Run.com and the StarDay or the Cybby Awards, and linked over," Louisak recalls. "I don't think Turtle-Run was a very busy (then), but it's gotten (a lot) more busy."
Most passionate about Days of our Lives and Passions, Louisak's favorite characters include Ethan and Theresa on Passions and the ups and downs of their romance. "It's the chemistry between Lindsay (Korman, Theresa) and Travis (Schuldt, Ethan)," Louisak says. "It's not even so much what the characters do, it's the way the actors portray the characters." As for Days of our Lives, Louisak is a die-hard fan and will watch no matter what. "I've liked Days all my life," she said. "I've grown up with Days. I will always watch it. It's habitual. No matter who leaves or whatever, I will just stick with the soap because I have always watched it." For her, the best of Days comes with one particular character. "Marlena is my favorite character," Louisak says. "Diedre Hall is a wonderful actor."
Once Louisak found Turtle-Run she became a posting machine. "The StarDay with Lindsay Korman drew me in," she said. "I started posting and saw other fans like ruthannj and carenjoyous who were also big Theresa and Ethan fans, and I knew I'd found a home." Unfortunately, Louisak's posting on our Passions board has diminished of late, largely due to her waning interest in the Ethan/Theresa storyline. "I'm just not happy with the way things are going on the show right now, " she said. "So I am not posting as much."
But she is still a posting dervish our TRO's Days of our Lives boards. Her comments are so lively and full of passion that she gets tons of responses to every thread she begins. At first, I remember having to reign her in a tad. "I am very passionate about my shows," she said with a laugh. And sometimes, in the heat of that passion, certain expletives would emerge throughout her posted comments. As Turtle-Run is a "G-rated" community, a little editing was needed, along with a reminder or two regarding TRO's Rules & Regulations for posting. Soon, Louisak got the hang of posting with passion, while choosing her words more succinctly, and became one of the top "personalities" on the Turtle-Run boards.
Congratulations, Louisak. It's been a pleasure reading your wonderful comments on your favorite shows, and watching as you stand up for your favorites without fail. Thank you for your many contributions to the Turtle-Run community! Here's to many more posts, and watch your snail mail. SoapsSanta is on his way!
Now that we have acknowledged our Top Poster for 2001, I have a contest to announce. As we have several posters who have already exceeded the 5,000 mark, the next person to reach 10,000 will get a special prize and be interviewed just like Lousiak! So everyone, keep posting and sharing your thoughts about your favorite shows and stars. I'll see you on the other side of 10,000 comments! (For those of you who have lost some posts due to unfortunate message board glitches, just keep a record of them, and email me when you near 10,000.)

Marj Dusay Signs New Contract with AMC
It was reported in the December 11, 2001 issue of Soap Opera Weekly that Marj Dusay would most likely be departing PineValley as it didn't look as though there was any more story left to tell for the character of Vanessa. However, according to E.J. HAAS, Dusay's official webmaster, Dusay is not going anywhere, and she passed on words directly from Marj to her fans:
"First and foremost, thank you all for your support!" Dusay announced on her official chatroom/message board. "It thrills me to know you appreciate my contribution to your favorite show (and mine!) AMC. And now, what you really want to know. I signed a new contract with All My Children, that I'm quite pleased with," she said.
Looks like the mischief-making Vanessa is sticking around in PineValley afterall! What will Vanessa have up her sleeve next? We will just have to tune in and see.
Montel Williams Joins the Cast of AMC (Contains Scoopage)
Daytime Emmy Award-winner Montel Williams will hold Erica Kane's (Susan Lucci) future in his hands when he appears as honorable Judge Pearson on the ABC Television Network's Emmy Award-winning drama "All My Children," beginning Thursday, January 3, 2002.
Erica Kane is facing life behind bars as the number-one murder suspect in the mysterious killing of Frankie Stone (Elizabeth Hendrickson). Unlike most people being tried for murder, Erica is trying to prove to Judge Pearson and the jury that she is guilty of a crime she really fears her daughter, Bianca (Eden Riegel), has committed. Will Judge Pearson be able to see through Erica's claims, or will he just be another man whom Erica uses to get what she wants?
"We are thrilled to welcome Montel to 'All My Children.' It's a great opportunity for us to have such a well know personality and talented actor play in this role. I'm sure his fans and the fans of 'All My Children' will relish watching the drama unfold, " says executive producer Jean Dadario Burke.
Emmy Award-winner Montel Williams currently hosts the eleventh season of "The Montel Williams Show," a daily, one-hour, syndicated talk show in which Montel addresses familial, youth and relationship issues with provocative and meaningful discussions that are always entertaining,
spontaneous and challenging. In addition to his busy career as a successful talk show host, Montel is also an accomplished author and publisher, releasing The New York Times bestseller "BODYchange" and "A Dozen Ways to Sunday" this past year. Adding to his credits, he is also a talented actor, having appeared in episodes of "Touched by an Angel" and "JAG."
Speaking of AMC....
Congratulations to John Callahan (Edmund) and his wife, Eva LaRue Callahan (ex Maria) who have just brought a new little bundle into this world. On Thursday, December 6, 2001, Turtle-Run.com broke the story on the TRO AMC Message Boards that the Callahan's were the proud parents of 7 lb, 1oz Kaya McKenna Callahan, their bouncing baby girl born earlier that day. Kaya was 21 inches long at birth and both mother and daughter are doing just fine!
And... "Ebbie" airs on Lifetime
The classic story of "A Christmas Carol" is given a major makeover when Ebbie, a contemporary female Scrooge played by AMC's Susan Lucci, must face the demons of her past, confront the reality of the present, and fight the phantoms of her future in order to reconnect with the goodness in herself. "Ebbie," the Lifetime Original Movie starring Susan Lucci airs Thursday, December 13, 3-5 PM and again on Monday, December 24, 4-6 PM.
In the last Top of the Week
Last week we ran a letter from Stephanie who wondered where AMC buys the clothes for Kelly Ripa's character, Hayley. According to the AMC spokesperson, clothes for the character are purchased in a variety of places. "They shop in stores all over NYC," he said. But store-bought wardrobe comprises only part of Hayley's attire. "Richard Schurkamp is our costume designer," continued the spokesperson, "and he does design some (original) items as well."
