Dear Suds Buds,
As I write we are gearing up to head on over to ABC Television Studios in Los Angeles to get Turtle-Run's exclusive preview of the making of SOAPnet's new show, SoapTalk. We are so excited about this new show and delighted to be behind-the-scenes for the very first ever taping. Co-hosts Lisa Rinna (Billie, OLTL) and Ty Treadway (Troy, OLTL) are such fun to watch, and the chemistry is undeniable. We'll tell you all about what went on during the taping of SoapTalk's first show in next week's column.
If you're planning a trip to LA and want to participate in the live audience of SoapTalk call 323 653-4105 or visit http://www.TVTix.com (or more specifically, http://tvtix.com/show.php?eventID=141&scheduleID=8122 ) for tickets to the tapings! The Tickets are FREE! The audience capacity holds 80 fans, and in such an intimate setting, you'll get up close and personal with your favorite stars. Tickets for this show are hard to come by so don't reserve unless you are sure you can make it! The only restriction is that you must be 16 years old or more. Have fun!
In the meantime, scoll down for more about SoapTalk in this week's column. If you don't get the SOAPnet channel, call your cable operator and ask for it. Speaking of talking soaps, away we go....
Think Twice Before You Post
At Turtle-Run.com we have always recommended that although everyone has a right to their opinion, and should feel comfortable expressing their opinion at Turtle-Run.com, it's always better to think twice before you post and follow Turtle-Run's Golden Rule of posting: "Post Unto Others as You Would Have Them Post Unto You." There are ways to express your opinion and still treat others with respect and consideration, and then there are those who will simply refrain from using any sense of decorum and instead post nastiness and bashes.
One of our loyal community members sent me the link to an article that ran in the Richmond Times Dispatch on the issue of freedom of speech on the internet. I recommend that all of Turtle-Run's posters read it. If this doesn't make you think twice about what you post about other community members, and or actors/producers, etc., nothing will. Remember, you may have a right to express your opinion, but when you defame another entity, they have just as much a right to come down on you for it. In the case of this Richmond Times Dispatch article, even resorting to legal action.
Again, I stress, feel free to share your views and opinions, but do so with respect and consideration for the views and opinions of others. Stick to Turtle-Run's posting rules and regulations and you can't go wrong! ;o)
GL's Josh/Reva Wedding Featured on The Learning Channel's A Wedding Story
Promising viewers a little summer fun, The Learning Channel's daytime classic, A Wedding Story, is placing its tongue firmly in its cheek, filming the preparations and wedding of one of daytime drama's favorite couples: Guiding Light's Reva Shayne and Josh Lewis (Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman).
In conjunction with Guiding Light's 50th television anniversary, A WeddingStory will cover the nuptials of this popular fictional couple, whose on-again, off-again romance has thrilled viewers since 1984, when the character of Reva first arrived in the town of Springfield. This couple, twice wed to one another, and each married to others as well, has a long and checkered past, providing a rich history upon which A Wedding Story can draw. As Josh and Reva head down the aisle once again, A WeddingStory interviews the actors who portray the fictional couple, their family and friends, thereby providing a unique love story in mockumentary style.
In addition, in true soap opera fashion, Guiding Light will give viewers a plot twist by incorporating A Wedding Story into the show's storyline. Viewers can see this special episode of A Wedding Story on The Learning Channel on June 6th at 3:30pm and again on June 8th at 10 pm. Guiding Light's wedding episodes air on CBS beginning this week on Thursday, June 6th and running through Monday, June 10th.
AMC's Mateo Gets New Portrayer on Temp Basis
All My Children announced last Tuesday, May 28, 2002 that the role of Mateo Santos, created and currently played by Mark Consuelos, will be temporarily played by Kurt Caceres.
Caceres is no stranger to daytime. He appeared on Young & the Restless in 1998 in the role of Randy. He can be seen in the role of Conrado Gonzalez in the PBS television series American Family. His other credits include the independent features Southside and First Watch, and guest starring roles in NYPD Blue, Jag, Resurrection Blvd, Higher Ground, Pensacola: Wings of Gold, and Silk Stalkings.
When queried on the whys and wherefores of this temporary re-cast, and more importantly, Mark Consuelos' and/or network reasons for Consuelos' leave of absence, the spokesperson for the show declined to comment.
The big question is, will Consuelos return and when, or will the role eventually be recast on a permanent basis? Time will tell.
Caceres first airdate as Mateo is Wednesday, July 3, 2002.

OLTL Heads to Maui
(For OLTL fans who prefer not to know what's coming up on the show, do NOT read this segment. Scroll to the next section! ;o)
One Life to Live makes its next bold move! The 33-year old daytime drama made television history when the show aired live for an entire week (May 13-17). On May 17, 2002, OLTL won it's first Outstanding Drama Series Daytime Emmy Award. And now, members of the cast and crew venture to the beautiful island of Maui for the show's first location shoot outside of New York in almost ten years!
OLTL has partnered with the Maui Visitors' Bureau and the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa and began shooting on Friday, May 24. Five actors and approximately 15-20 crewmembers from New York, Los Angeles and Hawaii are participating in the shoot. Executive producer Gary Tomlin and senior supervising producer Frank Valentini will direct the 7-day shoot.
Keri and Antonio (Sherri Saum and Kamar de los Reyes) venture to Maui on a romantic getaway and find themselves at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Kaanapali Beach. During their stay, they discover the unexpected truth about Rae's (Linda Dano) past. Meanwhile Todd, Tea and Ross (Roger Howarth, Florencia Lozano and Shawn Christian) struggle to survive when a storm traps them on Paia Beach (Maui). The remote footage will first air on Wednesday, June 12.
Emmy Award-winning "One Life to Live," created by Agnes Nixon, was launched July 15, 1968. Gary Tomlin executive-produces and Lorraine Broderick and Chris Whitesell are the headwriters. The popular drama consistently ranks among the top three in the key demographic of Women 18-49. "One Life to Live" airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
The oceanfront Hyatt Regency Maui has a half-acre adventure swimming oasis, an Asian art collection, exotic wildlife, and tropical landscape situated along Kaanapali Beach -- a three-mile stretch of coastline, which is Maui's longest crescent beach. The resort has guided wildlife tours, art and garden tours, catamaran sails, Tour of the Stars, a rooftop astronomy program and the oceanfront Spa Moana -- all open to the general public.
Hyatt Regency Maui is part of the Kaanapali Resort community, which includes Maui's only beachfront shopping center, championship golf courses and more than 35 restaurants. Kapalua Airport and the historic town of Lahaina are a 10-minute drive from the resort. For additional information, visit Hyatt Regency Maui's Resort & Spa's website at www.hyatt.com.
