Nader arrested, Anna's back, but on AMC and Other PV news

It is with a saddened heart that I mention the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the arrest last weekend of Michael Nader (Dimitri, AMC) on alleged charges of selling a small amount of cocaine to undercover police at an after hours club in New York City's East Village. Not the first time Nader has suffered an altercation with the law (he was arrested for alleged drunk driving on Long Island in 1997 while he had his teenaged daughter in the car with him), he is also apparently suffering from health problems as he was admitted to Bellevue Hospital for an undisclosed illness after the arrest last weekend.

Happy to have been involved with the wonderful group of AMC fans who joined together last year to bring the actor back to the show after AMC decided not to exercise a third year option on his contract, I am surprised that so far, we have only received one letter of support for Nader in regard to this breaking story:

"We are totally disenchated with the behavior of the NYC media who chose to find Michael Nader guilty before any concrete investigation was underway. The treatmeant of celebrities in the media is generally reprehensible with regard to substance abuse. One could liken this to the recent over coverage of the Robert Downey Jr.,who admittedly has a problem but is attempting to combat it. Oddly enough his employers, Fox TV/David E.Kelley Prod/Ally McBeal have chosen to extend his working contract rather than engage in the ongoing media vilification. One can only hope that ABC TV/Disney/All My Children would do the same concerning Michael Nader."Jazzriel and Kissntel 02

In seeing Nader on AMC since his return, I have noted that he looked gaunt and much thinner than he did before he left. Perhaps he decided to trim down for health reasons. Perhaps health reasons caused the weight loss. Having had the pleasure of interviewing Nader, I found him always grateful to his fans, and more than gracious with me.

If his health is at risk, I wish him a speedy recovery. If he needs help to combat a substance abuse problem, I pray he seeks it. Far as Nader continuing on AMC, many rumors are circulating the internet, including that of a possible recast. However, on Thursday, March 1, 2001 AMC released this statement in regard to Nader's status with the show: "No decision has been made. The situation is being carefully reviewed by senior management, and to the extent that Michael needs help, we hope he gets the help that he needs. ABC has made resources available to him."

Nader was released on $500.00 bail, and is scheduled to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on March 26, 2001.

In other AMC News, Ruth Warwick (Pheobe) while on vacation in Italy, broke her hip. She was placed in a body cast and flown back to New York on Wednesday, February 28, 2001 for immediate surgery. As of this writing (Thursday, March 1, 2001) the network had no further word on Warwick's prognosis, but promised to keep us informed. TRO wishes her a speedy recovery.

While on the subject of AMC, I applaud the current storyline involving Tad, Dixie, David, and Leslie. Although not a popular one from the standpoint of many Tad (Michael E. Knight) and Dixie (Cady McClain) fans, the performances all around have been beyond amazing. Vincent Irizarry (David) has been downright despicable in his manipulations of Leslie and Dixie, and his attempts to degrade Tad in Dixie's eyes. Colleen Dion (Leslie) has been remarkable as the crazed, lovesick sociopath who is out to win Tad for herself if it's the last thing she does (and with devious Dr. Dave around, it just might be!). Dixie (Cady McClain), although being played the fool by David, is maintaining her dignity by staying true to her character and continuing to defend the underdog and trust in her fellowman, while fighting her pain for both the husband she believes cheated on her yet again and the man she believes has saved her life one more time. As for Tad (Michael E. Knight), he has been literally breaking my heart! He is hurting so much as he fights for the love of his life and the life he loves, yet Dixie is so blindsided by David that she can't see her husband for the man he really is. Tad feels helpless but won't let that stop him from proving to Dixie that David is not who he pretends to be. The performances and the storytelling have me riveted to the television each day. I can't wait to see what will happen next. Isn't that why we watch soaps in the first place? Great job to the writers and actors of this powerful storyline.

Speaking of AMC writers, congratulations to Michael Conforti who has been named co-head writer of the Emmy Award-winning daytime drama All My Children effective Monday, March 5, 2001. He will be working alongside current head writer Jean Passanante in his new position. "I am delighted to have Michael Conforti join All My Children, said executive producer Jean Dadairo Burke. "He is a wonderful addition to our writing team." Conforti began his long association with daytime television as an actor, playing the role of the young John Anderson on Love of Life, leading to additional acting stints on Edge of Night, As the World Turns and Guiding Light. Conforti then entered a writer development program in 1987 (remember those? I mentioned those last week! Where are they now?) and began writing scripts and breakdowns for Guiding Light full time in 1988. He was promoted to associate head writer of the drama in 1994 and, in 1996, was made co-head writer with Victor Miller and later with Jim Brown and Barbara Esensten. In July of 2000 Conforti joined One Life to Live as an associate head writer.

This Just in! Anna Devane Lavery Scorpio Alive on All My Children!

Pine Valley, Friday, March 2, 2001. ABC soap fans were shocked when they learned that Anna Devane Lavery Scorpio (Finola Hughes) from General Hospital is alive and well on All My Children! Finola Hughes will be playing the dual roles of twin sisters Anna and Alex, revealing the years of mystery behind Anna's presumed death from a boat explosion in 1992. Anna was, and is, one of daytime's most beloved characters, and the fact that she is alive, although rumored ever since Hughes first made her triumphant return to daytime on AMC just over one year ago, is now by far, one of daytime's biggest storylines. Both GH and AMC fans will be riveted to the screen to see what the future holds for Anna and her twin sister Alex, now that we know that Anna is still alive. Stay tuned to Turtle Run's Top of the Week next week for our historical rundown of both characters, from Anna's days as a WSB agent working undercover as a double agent for the DVX to her explosive exit off the show, and Alex's arrival in Pine Valley caring for and protecting the wishes of her ill husband, Dimitri.

Days of Our Lives Breaking News!

Meet newcomers Paul Logan (Glen) and Megan Corletto (Abby)

Daytime television newcomer, Paul Logan, portrays Glen, a mystery man from Chicago who will forever change the lives of Lexie and Hope. Logan was born in Hackensack, NJ and raised in Rockland County, New York (Can you believe it? So was I! LOL Boy, are we going to have stuff in common. Can't wait to interview him. ;o). In high school, Logan competed on the lacrosse team, but at 145 pounds and very skinny, he was still the kid that everybody picked on. All that changed when Logan discovered his true passion. Martial arts. After high school, Logan attended SUNY Purchase (State University of New York) as a bio-chem major. After graduation, Logan relocated to Hollywood to attend the prestigious Los Angeles College of Chiropractic Medicine. Just prior to beginning the required clinical hours, he booked his first film, Killers, and was hooked on acting. "I took a leave of absence from chiropractic school, and I never looked back (pun intended? LOL)," explains Logan. Several roles in action movies followed, as well as guest-star appearances in popular primetime series such as Veronica's Closet, L.A. Heat, and Malcolm and Eddie. Logan can be seen as the lead bad guy in the upcoming sci-fi film, Radius, that will be released simultaneously on video and the internet. He currently studies acting with Aaron Speiser. In his spare time he enjoys martial arts (he is a black belt), bodybuilding, reading, playing with his new puppy (a pug named Taz) and maintaining his website at http://www.paullogan.net. Logan wishes to stress the fact that he doesn't smoke, drink, or take any drugs or anabolics. "I am proof that you can be a body builder without taking any steroids," states the actor. Logan stands six feet tall and has light brown hair and blue eyes. He celebrates his birthday on October 15.

Seven year old Megan Corletto plays Abby Devereaux, the only child of super-couple Jack and Jennifer. Born and raised in Glendale, CA, Corletto lives with her father Carlos, a salesman for a plumbing wholesale company, her mother, Erica, and her two-year-old younger brother, Carson. Corletto began her professional acting career when she was five years old with a Campbell's Soup commercial. The young actress already has several television credits under her belt, including ER, The X-Files, Chicago Hope, and the new TNN series, Eighteen Wheels of Justice. Playing a young Piper (Holly Marie Combs) on the hit series Charmed is by far Corletto's favorite guest-star appearance. "I got to do magic and freeze things," said the young actress. "I stopped a ball in mid air," Corletto continues as her eyes light up. Corletto has appeared in a variety of commercials including Intel, Pfeizer, Chevy, and Montgomery Ward. She can be seen in the upcoming feature films Checkers and One Hour Photo starring with Robin Williams. Last summer, Corletto played the Princess in the play Wedding Band, directed by James Avery, at a theatre festival in Los Angeles. When she isnt attending second grade or acting, Corletto enjoys watching the PowerPuff Girls and Pokemon, as well as collecting the Pokemon cards. She loves to read, especially the Harry Potter series, and enjoys cruising around the neighborhood on her Razor scooter. An active member in Brownies, Corletto also enjoys playing on the afterschool playground with her friends. She has brown hair and green eyes, and celebrates her birthday on September 25th.
