Dear Suds Buds:
Boy oh boy! Does it ever look like Christmas Central at our house. We’ve got packages ready to go to the post office for our friends and family back east. We’ve got wrapping paper and ribbon strewn all around the living room, and the bedrooms, and the dining room. LOL. Everyone here is in a wrapping frenzy and our kitty cats are having a ball playing with all the trimmings. Plus, there are certain areas of the house that are “off limits’ to certain members of the family, cos that’s where their gifts are being stored! All in all, it’s very festive and fun.
How is Christmas shopping going for all of you? If you haven’t already, click on the Cat Cosmetics ad running at Soapdom.com. For those of you who don’t recognized Catherine Hickland, she plays the character of Lindsay on One Life to Live and has her own cosmetics company. Her products are a bit on the expensive side, but let me tell you, they last and last. I swear by her “Cat Kit.” You can order refills for that (guilty!) and I’ve been using it every day for over a year! Cat Cosmetics offers gift certificates and a December special that’s super! Check out the “Monthly Meow” for this month’s special.
With Christmas shopping, present wrapping and package hiding and or sending, I’ve gotten to think about the world of Soapdom and how come not much hustle and bustle is being seen on our favorite shows. I remember one year, not too long ago, when in Pine Valley at the Chandler mansion, there were no holiday decorations. At one point, Adam said to Liza (or vice versa, I don’t recall exactly), that it was time to decorate the tree, and then we cut away to another scene for about 2 minutes. At which point, we returned to the Chandler mansion and poof! This gorgeous, 14-foot tall Christmas tree, decorated to die for, was completely set up in the corner of the room. I wanna know how many elves they hired to do that in 2 minutes! Insta decorating. LOL
Which leads me to my Christmas Wish List for Soapdom. Here’s what I’d love to see on all of the shows:
- Romance, romance, romance.
- Intrigue and clever storytelling.
- Funny business that makes me giggle cos it’s truly fun and comes from character traits that are believable.
- And although soaps are fantasy and are specifically designed to take us away from real life strife and trouble, I would love to see some of the story development use a more realistic approach to its telling. Technical advisors are available to soap writers. My wish is that they take full advantage of resource.
What do YOU wish for on your favorite soap? We asked this last week, and we asked you to tell us in the Criticize the Critic folder on the Soapdom Message Board, but not that many of you responded. Come on. I know that you all want to see something special, or different, or new, or a return to the old on your favorite show. Let us know what you want to see in the Criticize the Critic folder. You could get your wish list published in the “Your Letters” column at Soapdom.com. You never know who’s lurking… Maybe the very “powers that be” that could effect the very change you want on your favorite show!
Have a great week!
