AMC Brings Back Character from the Past thanks to SOAPnet's I Wanna Be a SoapStar

Dear Suds Buds,

I just think this is such fun info, I am running it again this week.  And here's a heads up.  Next week I am off to try my luck in Las Vegas!  There will be no Top of the Week column for Week of July 4.  But the rest of Soapdom will be updated as ususal. Wish me luck! ;o)

Fun news ahead from All My Children and SOAPnet's I Wanna Be a Soap Star, but before I get to that, let me do this…

Do you guys know how many member support emails we get on a weekly basis from members who have log in problems?  Tons.   Yes, you do need your User Name and password to log in. You can retrieve your password directly from the Soapdom site, which is what we recommend for your security.  Only YOU should know your password.  But you'll need your User Name to get your password. Please, please, please keep your User Name in a safe place, so that you can always get your password if you need it.  If you forget your User Name, no worries. Just contact us via the contact form

Additionally, and this is the key item, you must click the GO button to complete the log in process.  It’s natural to just want to hit the enter/return key, but the way the current Soapdom software works, you gotta click GO in order to get logged in. If you just hit enter/return you get a blank search page and that’s annoying for two reasons.  1) you weren’t searching for anything, and 2), it doesn’t get you logged in.

So please remember to:

1) Keep your user name in a safe place. With it you can always access your password right from Soapdom.  The “forgot password” link is right by the log in box on the home page.

2) Click the GO button every time you log in!  It’s the ONLY way to get you logged in at this time.

The good news is there are some very exciting changes in the works at Soapdom.com.  Log in will be much easier very soon. But until then, please always remember to click that little GO button!

Now on to the AMC and SOAPnet news.  In the not too distant future, AMC will recast a character from the past with the winner of SOAPnet’s hit reality series, I Wanna Be a Soap Star.  The lucky and talented winner will get a 13-week contract on AMC!

As you all already know, AMC’s Cameron Mathison (Ryan) hosts the I Wanna Be a Soap Star franchise for SOAPnet. The new season of the soap reality show premiers this Thursday, June 23.  Contestants are guided through a series of talent and skill challenges, and ultimately, one contestant will be awarded a coveted role on AMC. Judy Blye Wilson, casting director for AMC, serves as one of the three judges along with talent manager, Michael Bruno, and actor Debbi Morgan.

“This is a perfect example of how our divisions can work together to lend their promotional strength in support of a project without compromising their core business,” said Anne Sweeney, co-chairman of Disney Media Networks, and president, Disney-ABC Television Group.  According to Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime, “All My Children fans will get to see the winner step into a familiar role, as the character will be someone with a Pine Valley past and connected to key characters. This innovative twist really raises the stakes for the fans, and makes the payoff much more satisfying.  We are proud to again partner with SOAPnet to make this television event.”

For those of you who don’t get SOAPnet, heads up. ABC Daytime will air a one-hour recap of I Wanna Be a Soap Star on Thursday, August 18 at 11 AM, pre-empting The View.  This recap airs just prior to the final episode of Soap Star that will air that same evening on SOAPnet at 11 PM.  ABC Daytime will also air 30-second vignettes recapping prior episodes of Soap Star during All My Children for the nine-week series run of Soap Star.

This Friday, June 24, 2005, Soapdom will publish our up close and personal interviews with all the contestants. We were there on the I Wanna Be a SOAPnet stages the first day of production.  Get to know each hopeful like we did later this week at Soapdom.com.  Plus, Soapdom will publish sneak peeks of each upcoming episode of I Wanna Be a Soap Star in our SOAPnet section under Breaking News.  Check there each week to see what’s going to happen on Soap Star that coming Thursday.
