Dear Suds Buds!

Happy New Year!  Where has this past year gone? It seems as though I was just turning around and it was January 2002. Now, we are heading into January 2003.  I hope that 2002 treated you all well.  It was pretty monumental for me with the launching of Soapdom.com and all!   I wish you many blessings in 2003!

The start of the New Year is always very exciting.  First of all, with December 21st (the Winter solstice) past us, it means that the days once again get longer. More sunshine, less night!  I am definitely one of those people who suffers from SAD.  (We’ll be running a piece on SAD at Soapdom.com sometime in January.)  With the dawn of the New Year, I know that my SADness is on the way out as the longer days arrive.

January 1st is also a time to look toward the future and make those resolutions to help us achieve our future goals and plans.  Along with my “standard” resolutions of eating a more healthy diet, exercising more, and checking in more frequently with friends and family, one of my major resolutions this year is to make Soapdom.com the best place on the internet for soap fans.  Stay tuned as we grow.

Walt Willey (Jackson, AMC)

I even have a few resolutions for my favorite soaps.  You know, like if I was the show runner of All My Children, I’d resolve to give Tad and Jack a storyline.

Paul Leyden (Simon, ATWT)

If I was a show runner for As the World Turns, I’d resolve to get the character of Simon restored to his once mysterious and intriguing roots.

Galen Gering (Luis) and McKenzie Westmore (Sheridan) of Passions

If I were the show runner of Passions, I would definitely resolve to put Sheridan and Luis together again as a hot, super couple.

If you were the show runner of your favorite soap, what would you want as a 2003 New Year’s Resolution?   Tell us in the Criticize the Critic folder on the Soapdom.com Message Boards.

Speaking of the Soapdom boards, I personally invite everyone to step up to the keyboard and share your thoughts about your favorite shows and stars. Which leads me to this question.  How have you been enjoying the holiday episodes of your favorite soaps?  I especially enjoyed the blasts from the pasts that CBS treated us to on As the World Turns, Guiding Light and B&B.  Did you like the holiday episodes of your favorites? Let us know on the Soapdom message boards.

This New Year’s week Soapdom is running a number of fun and informative features, including New Year’s Eve Party Hosting Tips and Drink Recipes, and how some countries around the world celebrate the New Year.  Plus, we’ve got  Busted to Blissful’s 2002 Wrap Up for NBC Daytime, and SoapNet’s ”Brenda, Brenda, Brenda!” Not only does this coverage come complete with some great candid photos featuring Brenda’s history with both Sonny and Jax, but we’ve got the exact episode info, including what will air when and when it originally aired. Phew, that was a mouthful!  Best to go read the article. LOL. Later in the week watch for our Most Memorable Moments in Soaps, 2002.  Access this content via the Soapdom.com home page, or Search Soapdom!

Til the top of next week, Happy New Year!
