Dear Suds Buds,

First off, I just want to say that I hope you all had a wonderful, unstressful, holiday season and that you got to share some quality time with your friends, family, and loved ones.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a flurry of weddings this January on the Soaps? Let’s see, immediately coming to mind are Sheridan and Luis on Passions, Cassie and Edmund on Guiding Light, Belle and Phillip on Days on Days of our Lives. Have I left any out?  I can’t remember a January in the recent past where there were wedding storylines on one third of all the soaps, can you?  Isn’t June wedding month?  What do soap writers know that I don’t?  Of interest is that I have friends in real life who are also getting married this month.  Maybe getting married in January is the fresh thing to do.

Anyway, I have enjoyed seeing all the wedding preparations, and the gorgeous gowns, not to mention some of the surprises that the brides and grooms had to endure before saying I do.  Like Shawn on Days of our Lives.  He is not fond of the fact that Belle is marrying Philip, that’s for sure! LOL

Back to the fashions for a moment. Don’t you just adore McKenzie Westmore (Sheridan, PAS) in that backless gown?  Stunning.  All the brides look fantabulous.  Kudos to the wardrobe departments and set decorators for making these winter weddings true winter wonderlands.

Have the January weddings met your expectations? If not what would you like to see?  Tell me on the Criticize the Critic Message Board.

Speaking of the first of the year, Soapdom is running a special promotion.  If you get the annual all access pass to Soapdom for $34.95, I’ll send you a limited edition Soapdom.com 2005 Refrigerator Magnet Calendar! It’s way kewl. Plus, everyone who gets the annual subscription this month will be entered into a drawing to win a brand new DVD of the feature film “Wimbledon,” starring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany.  And let me tell you, this is one fun feature to have in your DVD collection. Kirsten Dunst couldn’t be more appealing as the world-seasoned tennis pro, and Paul Bettany is delightfully charming in this underdog gets the girl romantic comedy.  Find out more on Wimbledon, and good luck. I hope many of you enter to win the DVD.  We have a number of them to give away, so your chances are good!  And your all access to Soapdom means you get to see First Look photos and special content first, plus getting the run of the site all the time any time.  Subscribe this month to take advantage of this special January promo.  Click to find out more.

Til the top of next week,

Linda Marshall-Smith

One Life To Live Stars gave fans what they want

'Oh My God!' was the reaction to the many fans that came out to the "Loving Llanview" event in Merrillville, IN to see their favorite stars from One Life To Live and be able to get up close and personal. It was like a Sunday afternoon chat fest that was real intimate and the feeling was like hanging around old friends.

When Kassie DePavia (Blair) came out it was like... 'I can't believe she is here.'. Joining her were fellow cast-mates, Trevor St. John (Victor), Tuc Watkins (David), Melissa Archer (Natalie), Hillary B. Smith (Nora), and John Paul- Lavoisier ( Rex).
