Sweeps sneaks, NBC Fan Fest and A closer look at DOOL's Curtis

This just in -- Eastcoast ABC Daytime fans take note. Due to the live coverage of the New York Yankee ticker-tape parade on Monday, October 30, 2000, All My Children will be pre-empted in its regular timeslot, but will air at 3:00 PM ET on WABC. This is one you will not want to miss. Bianca finally reveals her big secret! So change the time on your VCRs. :o) One Life to Live will be joined in progress and General Hospital, regularly seen in the 3:00-4:00 time slot will be pre-empted. Now, where was I? Oh yes...

Boo and other salutations of the season! :o) Lot's of Halloween parties scheduled for the soaps this week. TRO's ATWT fans have had a little fun on our message boards trying to guess what costumes Oakdale's denizens will wear for Craig's big Halloween festivities. My favorites: ATWT_FAN's Holden as Will Rogers, and TrixieLou's Denise as Josephine Baker. Can't you just imagine Denise in Josephine Baker fig-leaf skirt or Holden as a cowboy? Giddeyup, Lily. LOL! October may go out with parties celebrating ghosts and goblins, but

November is a month of secrets, mysteries, romance, danger, and forbidden passion on ABC Daytime. Intrigue, romance and witchcraft abound on NBC Daytime. From CBS Daytime expect returns from the dead on GL and Lily to make up her mind on ATWT. It's gonna be quite a sweeps. See Turtle-Run's Sneak Peeks for a look at our special November Sweeps Sneaks.

Last week I mentioned running into James Patrick Stuart, a former member of the All My Children cast (ex Will Cortland). This week, another former AMC cast member (Nick Benedict, ex Phillip Brent) returns to soapdom in his more recent role as Curtis Reed on Days of Our Lives. "Curtis is there to taunt Austin and Greta," said a spokesperson for the show. "Watch for him on November 1st and 2nd." However, I will give you all a little tip. He appears in a less than human form, and almost succeeds in getting Austin and Greta to do his bidding. I had the pleasure of speaking at length with Benedict several months ago. He has a mesmerizing way about him and is full of tons of juicy tidbits from his experiences in daytime. Did you know, for example, that he once dated Agnes Nixon's daughter while he was on All My Children? These days, not only does he continue in his recurring role as Curtis Reed on Days of Our Lives, but he also owns and operates a contracting business in southern California. Imagine wanting to get your home painted, and Benedict shows up to give you the estimate! He is also in the process of writing a book on his memoirs and experiences in daytime and from what he shared with me, it promises to be quite the tell-all! We'll have more on Nick Benedict coming soon. Till then, be sure to catch up with him on Days of Our Lives this week!

NBC Daytime Announces World's Largest Bar of Soap!

In what has to be the cleanest tie-in in promotion history, NBC Daytime will burst the bubble of the Guinness Book of World Records when the largest soap bar ever made is unveiled at the first Annual NBC Soap FanFest. This is one huge bar of soap, weighing in at an estimated 12,000 pounds! (That's about the same weight as 6 automobiles!) It's 10-feet long by 6-feet wide by 4-feet tall. Made by Unilever Home & Personal Care--USA based in Connecticut, and fashioned in the shape of a bar of Dove Soap, the gargantuan FanFest soap bar will then be fitted for a gargantuan soap bar package, and will make the 5-day journey from Greenwich, CT to Orlando. "What better visual way to commemorate the first NBC Soap FanFest than to unveil the world's largest bar of soap," said Sheraton Kalouria, SVP NBC Daytime Programs. "It's a tangible representation of how soap operas such as Passions and Days of Our Lives are thriving, and of NBC's commitment to this healthy, vital genre." Ah, if only the genre were 99.9% pure. LOL Prior to the unwrapping of the enormous bar of soap on November 11, 2000, NBC Daytime stars Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe, Days of Our Lives) and McKenzie Westmore (Sheridan, Passions) both classically-trained vocalists, will serenade fans with an "original soap opera." Another highlight of this year's first FanFest includes the official Days of Our Lives 35th Anniversary party hosted by NBC and Universal Orlando at the park's Toon Amphitheater. Admission to FanFest is included in your regular admission to Universal Islands of Adventure Theme Park. For more information on FanFest, see Seeing Stars below.

Days of our Lives Guy Wilson says running the LA Marathon was an "eye opening experience"

The 2015 Los Angeles Marathon is over, but for Guy Wilson (Will) of Days of our Lives, he tells Soapdom that running in it this year to raise money for APLA (Aids Project Los Angeles), was an "eye opening experience".

"Oh Yes! This was so great to be able to give back to the community and raise money and awareness of this dreadful disease. "Wilson said. "I was so impressed with the fans of Days and the people that came out for this event. For me in general...this was a powerful experience, and the adrenalin was pumping. My goal was to go in this and serve the community."
