Meet DOOL's Robert Cuthill
After an extensive international casting search, Robert Cuthill has landed the role of Colin Murphy, the enigmatic doctor who got Jennifer Horton's pulse racing in Africa on Days of our Lives.
Although born in Chicago, Cuthill is of true British descent. His father, Ian, is from Dundee, Scotland, and his mother, Jean, is from Whitney, England (an hour's drive northwest of London). Robert is the youngest of four children; he has one older brother and two older sisters.
When he was five years old, Robert's family moved to Syracuse, New York. Robert excelled in academics as well as soccer and on the baseball field. Upon graduation from Fayetteville Manlius High School, Robert attended Cornell University as a business management and marketing major. After graduation, Robert went to work as a marketing analyst for Diebold, Inc., the Fortune 500 manufacturer of ATM machines in Canton, Ohio. As a creative outlet from his day job, Cuthill became involved with the North Canton Playhouse, performing in several productions.
Robert soon realized that life on the stage was his true calling. He ditched his job at Diebold and moved to New York City to receive formal acting training. To support himself, Robert worked the evening and graveyard shifts as a computer specialist with several investment banks. For two years he studied intensely, not allowing himself to go to go to auditions until the training program was complete. After determining that he was prepared to pursue professional work, Robert quickly amassed theatrical and commercial credits to his resume. One of his most notable gigs was a stint on "As the World Turns" portraying Officer Don Barker. "Margo was wrongfully accused of murder and was put in jail awaiting trial. Somehow she tricked my character out of his keys and escaped to find the real killer," Cuthill explains.
After a string of commercial and theatrical jobs, Robert's agency, The Gage Group, encouraged him to give Los Angeles a shot. Much as it pained him to leave New York, Robert moved to Hollywood and again supported himself as a freelance computer specialist while juggling auditions. In December 2000, Robert had his first of five auditions for the role of Colin Murphy. The process took a full six months, but in the end Cuthill landed the coveted role and was suddenly part of the equation in one of daytime television's all time super couples, Jack and Jennifer.
"It's surreal to be working here on Days," Cuthill states. "In college, my fraternity brothers would skip class to watch the show. One of the biggest attractions was to see Missy Reeves."
In his spare time, Robert continues to study acting and likes to play the occasional round of golf. He remains close to his family and travels to the United Kingdom to visit relatives as often as he can.
Robert celebrates his birthday on August 29th. He stands 6" and has brown hair and hazel eyes.
Meet DOOL's Eddie Velez
Eddie Velez portrays Paul Mendez, Salem's newest villain with a score to settle, on NBC's number one daytime drama, "Days of our Lives."
Velez, a native of Manhattan, New York, is the son of Ramon and Mercedes Velez. Eddie has an older brother named Raymond, and two younger sisters, Esther and Maureen. Eddie attended the High School of Art and Design and The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, before moving to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, Eddie studied with esteemed director Jose Quintero at the Mark Taper Forum.
Eddie has enjoyed success in all mediums. He is featured in the soon to be released film The Hunted, directed by William Friedkin, and recently appeared in Steven Soderbergh's highly acclaimed film Traffic, where he played a drug enforcement agent alongside Benicio Del Toro. Other films include Most Wanted, Split Decisions, and the cult-hit film Repo Man.
On television, Eddie has made numerous guest-star appearances and has starred in several prime time series, including The A Team, Charlie and Company, and Trial and Error, which earned him a Golden Eagle Award from the Nosotros Organization and a Cesar Award from the Hispanic Achievement Society. He was also featured in the Emmy Award winning NBC miniseries Drug Wars: The Camarena Story.
On stage, Eddie created the role of Lenny in the World Premier production of "Delirious" at the Matrix Theatre, garnering the Drama-Logue Award for Best Ensemble.
Eddie resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Catharine Grace, whom he met in acting class. He has a daughter twenty-three years of age.
Eddie is thrilled to finally get the opportunity to play a villain. "Villains are fun to play because anything goes and everybody always remembers the bad guys, " Eddie remarks enthusiastically. "And I just love the evil theme music that usually plays when the villains go lurking about, plotting their next diabolical move."
Eddie stands 6" and has brown hair and brown eyes. He celebrates his birthday on June 4th.

Owen received his first "big break" in Hollywood from his good friend William Frawley, who played Fred Mertz on "I Love Lucy." Frawley convinced Owen to come to Hollywood where he quickly became a recognizable radio personality and television and movie character actor.
Owen Bush's extensive credits included regular roles on "Bonanza," "Peyton Place," "The Andy Griffith Show," "Our House," "Manhunt" and "Shane," as well as the movies "Valley of the Dolls," "Bonnie & Clyde," "Vanishing Point," "The Hand," "The Last Star Fighter" and "The Apple Dumpling Gang." As he grew as a character actor, Owen's list of guest-starring roles on TV series became extensive. They included: "How the West Was Won," "McMillan & Wife," "Death Valley Days," "The Doris Day Show," "Mod Squad," "Murder She Wrote," "Dynasty," "Falcon Crest," "Gunsmoke," "Maverick," "Streets of San Francisco," "Little House on the Prairie," "Dallas" and "Highway to Heaven."

Plus, "Sex and the City" Returns Next January with 6 New Episodes
With the first 12 episodes of its fourth season now debuting Sunday nights through August 12, 2001, HBO's hit comedy "Sex and the City" will return with the final six episodes of the season beginning January, 2002, debuting new shows on Sunday nights. These six shows were scheduled for next year, instead of immediately following the other new episodes in the event that writers' or actors' strike affected production.
In addition, the fourth season's first 12 episodes will begin an encore run this November, starting Sunday, November 25, 2001. Each week, two episodes will air back-to-back at 9 PM ET, immediately following an encore episode of "The Sopranos."
Meanwhile, "Sex and the City" continues to spark rave reviews. The "New York Post" called it "one of the best shows on TV," and "The Wall Street Journal" wrote, "Funny, frank, female lotharios make 'Sex and the City' a joy. "Elle Magazine" raves, "Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and the always incandescent Sarah Jessica Parker play kindred spirits ... with equal parts bravado and grace." The "Boston Herald" gave it four stars, declaring "HBO's gem is as bright and bold as ever."
Last January the series won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, and Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series for Sarah Jessica Parker. The show won the same two Golden Globes in 2000. Sarah Jessica Parker also won a Screen Actors Guild Award earlier this year for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Comedy Series. In addition, the show was nominated for nine Emmys last year, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Kim Cattrall).
