General Hospital Stars Headline Annual Tennis Auction Ball
Tava Smiley (Chloe) and Wally Kurth (Ned) will be the special guests at the Cystic Fibrosis Annual Tennis Auction Ball on Saturday, April 28, 2001 in Pittsburg, PA at the Omni William Penn Hotel's Grand Ballroom. The cocktail hour and silent auction will be held at 6-7 PM, the grand prize and live team auction will be held from 7-8 PM, with dinner at 8-9 PM followed by the smooth sound of Jimmy Sapienza's Five Guys Named Moe. This two-day event culminates in a pro/AM tennis tournament at Oxford Athletic Club East which starts at 11 AM, on Sunday (I think! Be sure to call to confirm this). Franco Harris is one of the featured players along with many professional and amateur players.
But the real treat for GH fans is the special guest appearances of Tava Smiley (Chloe) and Wally Kurth (Ned). As you all know, Chloe burst into Port Charles in the spring of 1999. She brings a unique energy and sense of whimsy to the landscape. Chloe recently married the enigmatic Ned Ashton through a madcap turn of events, but her play to keep her company may cost Chloe her heart's true desire the charismatic and dashing Jax! Along with her work on GH, Smiley has guest starred on Beverly Hills 90210, Nash Bridges, the Pretender, Baywatch, and Pensecola. She also appeared in the Mike Figgis film, One Night Stand, before landing the role of Chloe on GH. She most recently finshed shooting a supporting role in the independent feature Solid Ones. Smiley and her cat, Maria Bean, reside in LA.
Wally Kurth, Ned, is a man truly cut from the 'Quartermaine' clothe. Clever, ambitious and indefatigable in his business objectives, his inherited business ferocity took a heavy toll when his beloved wife, Lois, left the confines of the family mansion with their baby daughter to keep her safe from the family toxicity. Along with his role on GH, DOOL fans remember Kurth as Justin Kiraikis. He joined GH in 1992. His popularity is evidenced by being selected in 1996 as the Most Valuable Player on GH by readers of Soap Opera Update magazine. He was also nominated Hottest Male Star by Soap Opera Digest in 1996.
Kurth was born in Billings, Montana and grew up with a strong interest in acting and music. He is also active in the LA Equity waiver theatrical arena where he has worked as an actor and director along with writing and performing music with his partner, Christian Taylor. Their two albums, Kurth & Taylor and Half & Half, have received critical praise from Billboard magazine. Currently, Kurth and Taylor are touring the country promoting their new album, Nashville.
All you Pittsburgh, PA GH fans get on out and meet Chloe and Ned this Saturday, April 28th. Call the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 412 321-4422 for further information.

Meet Port Charles Michael Easton
On May 11, 2001 Port Charles fans will be treated to the first appearance of the character of Michael. He will complicate lives in Port Charles throughout the summer. Played by actor Michael Easton, the character of Michael is sure to cause a bit of a stir.
Days of our Lives fans will remember Easton as Tanner Scofield, a role he played on DOOL from 1989-1992. His extensive list of credits include lead roles in the television series 413 Hope Street, and Total Recall 2070, as well as the upcoming mini-series, Diamond Hunters. He has also starred in a number of MOW's such as The 70's, What We Did that Night, Shadow of a Stranger, and Dazzle. However, my most favorite of his past performances include his guest-starring roles on Ally McBeal (and subsequently, The Practice) where he played a rather well-endowed nude male model named Glenn, who caused Ally's eyes to open wide in art class!
But acting is not Easton's only entertainment industry pursuit. In 1995 he served as writer/director/producer/editor on the Sundance Film Festival motion picture Daedalus is Dead. He also penned the script for Monty, a biopic for one of his earliest heros, Montgomery Clift. In addition to writing screenplays, the talented actor published a book of poetry in 1997 titled Eighteen Straight Whiskeys.

Jon Lindstrom (Kevin, PC) The Port Charles original cast member and former GH star reflects on the highly dramatic and always riveting life of his on-screen alter ego.
Alan Oppenheimer (Alistair, Passions) Patriarch Alistair Crane rules Harmony with an iron fist, but viewers have never seen his face. Only his voice is heard, provided by veteran character actor, Alan Oppenheimer. Well, viewers still won't see Alan's face in this profile, not even his profile! However, SoapCenter takes viewers behind-the-scenes at Passions for a very different kind of interview! "It's like radio you don't know what the fella looks like, and everybody's interpretation of what Alistair looks like is a little different based on your experience and your imagination," Oppenheimer tells us. "And I think that is very, very powerful."
Terri Conn (Katie, ATWT) Special Contributor, Mimi Torchin, has a fun-filled, and at times, very emotional, chat with first time Emmy nominee and bride-to-be, Terri Conn. "Last year (at the Emmys) everybody looked at us like, 'Who are you? Oh, As the World Turns? Is that still on the air?' We weren't treated very well, so this year, we're gonna live it up," Conn promises.
EMMY Spotlight # 4 This time SoapCenter salutes the five handsome and talented actors nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor Emmy: Josh Duhamel, Michael E. Knight (Leo and Tad, AMC), Michael Park, Benjamin Hendrickson and Hunt Block (Jack, Hal, and Craig, ATWT).
Real Andrews (Taggert, GH) The handsome actor is on a crusade to raise money and awareness for cancer-related charities in honor of his recently deceased brother. In a highly emotional interview while at a photo shoot for his upcoming calendar (proceeds benefit his brother's favorite charities), and through private family pictures and tender recollections, Andrews pays tribute to his brother and the fans that have supported his charitable endeavor. "My brother passed away a year ago and I promised to keep raising money for cancer in his memory," Andrews says. "He was going through (chemotherapy) at that time and he said what really made him sad was to see the kids that didn't know what was going on in their life, just walking around, smiling and thinking life was normal when it wasn't"
