Dear Suds Buds,

The concept of Fan February was started by ABC Daytime 3 years ago.  The first ABC Fan February promotion in 2003 had fans write in a special scene that they would like to see on their favorite soap.  The network picked a compilation of scenes and created a special show around them. On All My Children, Tad married Erica, after having a very caddish fling with just about every other female in Pine Valley. On General Hospital, Sonny and Jason switched roles. On One Life to Live, Clint returned and the Buchanan’s headed out to the wildwest, while Todd, Blair and Starr got to do a little song and dance.

ABC Daytime's Fan February 2004 allowed a special fan of each soap to actually get to appear on their favorite show in a scene with their favorite character(s).

This year it’s move over ABC, as NBC Daytime has jumped on the February Fan Wagon. NBC’s promotion rewards loyal viewers with Passions and Days bracelets. And some lucky fans will hear their names mentioned or displayed on screen.

And now, ABC Daytime just announced plans for its third annual Fan February celebration.  Plus, get this -- Bob Guiney will guide three loyal fans through their all-access pass!

AMC's Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) and real-life hubby, Bob Guiney at Super Soap Weekend in November 2004.
Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime, has announced that ABC soap fans will have the opportunity to win an All-Access Pass to their favorite soaps -- All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital -- during the third annual Fan February celebration.

"We are always looking for ways to show our appreciation to our fans, whether it's traveling the country with our Fun in the Sun campaign, hosting the country's biggest fan event at Super Soap Weekend or our annual Fan February event," said Frons. "This year we wanted to offer our fans the chance to join our ABC Daytime families in the places where they live -- Pine Valley, Llanview and Port Charles - and to give them an unprecedented, exclusive experience with each of their favorite shows."

"Wide World of Soaps" host Bob Guiney will reprise his commentator role to take each lucky winner on an all-access tour of the soap sets, where almost anything could happen from the minute they walk through the studio doors to meet the casts of their favorite ABC Daytime dramas.

Fans can enter the contest by submitting a videotape, explaining why they should be the fan to receive an All-Access Pass. The tapes will be reviewed by ABC Daytime executives, and one loyal fan will be selected for each show. Portions of the fans' visits to their favorite sets will be shown on-air during the week of February 21, so viewers at home can also get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of their soaps.
