Port Charles Moves to New Time Slot in Los Angeles Market & Dr. Joe Moonlights

Beginning today, Port Charles and ABC7 Eyewitness News will be switching time slots in the Los Angeles market. Port Charles will now be seen at 11:30 AM, taking its appropriate place as part of an uninterrupted soap opera block.

Speaking of Port Charles, if you've been missing Dr. Joe, not to worry. He is still in town, he has just been otherwise occupied. Alex Mendoza, the actor who portrays Dr. Joe, began production on an independent feature film called Asylum Days last month. It is a thriller where Mendoza plays Detective Salazar, a rookie cop who teams with Detective Martin (Michael Crider, The Astronaut's Wife) in the search of a kidnapped young starlet. C. Thomas Howell and Deborah Zoe (Road Trip) also star. Production wrapped at the end of last week. The feature was shot on location in Los Angeles.

Ruth Warwick (Phoebe, AMC) Recovering from Surgery

Ruth Warwick (Phoebe, AMC) underwent surgery in NYC's Mt. Sinai Hospital last week, after suffering a fall while on vacation in Italy. She returned to the US in a body cast, as she preferred to have the surgery done here. "The surgery went well," said the spokesperson for AMC. "Ruth is now recuperating in a rehabilitation center and is doing well."

More DOOL News!

Aaron Van Wagner (Jason) will host E! Entertainment Television's popular Wild on Spring Break!, currently shooting in South Padre Island, TX, Aspen, CO, and Panama City, FL. Joining Aaron on the sexy series will be the Hawaiian Tropic Girls. Look for Wild on Spring Break to air throughout April on E! Aaron is also hosting the April 20, 2001 edition of E! Entertainment Television's popular FYE! series which was shot at the recent Los Angeles Tip-A-King charity event at Paramount Studios. Tip-A-King is an annual event that allows over 1,000 guests the opportunity to meet their favorite LA King's players, coaches and broadcasters. Over $2 million has already been raised over the past 12 Tip-A-King events.

Letters to the Editor

Turtle Run continues to get email from the fans of Michael Nader showing support for the actor after his run in with the NY City police department for allegedly selling a small amount of cocaine to an undercover cop at an after hours club in NY's east village.

Carole4112 says. "We want him well and doing whatever keeps him happy & healthy. We hope he returns to AMC because we would miss him so much. We also hope he knows how many fans care about him, support him, and want him back." Minex writes: "I hope Michael gets the help he needs for a full recovery and returns to All My Children soon. Nobody can ever take his place as the sexy, exciting and endearing Dimitri. NOBODY!" Shaggies3 asks of ABC: "Please do not turn your back on this man, since none of us are put on this earth to judge others. I am aware that you have also given him a second chance previously, all that I am asking is that you try to work with him and get him the help he needs." Houston Fan writes: "You wouldn't want your own child to experience this nightmare, and I'd like to see it end for him, too."

In a statement released by the network on Friday, March 16, 2001, it does seem like Anthony Addabbo will remain in the role of Dimitri for an extended period of time. "Given Mr. Nader's unavailability, the show had to recast the role of Dimitri Marick," said the spokesperson for AMC. "We certainly hope that Mr. Nader gets the help he needs. If Mr. Nader gets the help he needs, and addresses his problem, and if it makes sense for the show, we would be prepared to speak with Michael in the future." Reading between the lines, it appears that the door is still open for Nader, but it looks like we will see Dimitri as played by Addabbo from April 6th on. According to Nader's friend and agent, Arthur Toretzky, the door is indeed open for Nader. "Michael is irreplaceable," said Toretzky after I read AMC's statement to him over the phone. "Right now he has some demons and he is working on fighting them. It is a great comfort to Michael to know that his fans are out there rooting for him. He appreciates the support."

"I have heard that CBS.com confirmed that Julia and Denise are definitely leaving ATWT, but I have not seen this there or anywhere. What do you know about this?" Mbg

Yes, as you probably know by now, Julia and Denise are definitely leaving the show. Click here for all the details http://www.turtle-run.com/topoftheweek/feb2001/topweek83.html

"I love Turtle Run it really has the scoop, it is the BEST. As you can tell I am a soap fan since I do not work anymore. Port Charles and General Hospital are my favorites. Going to movies has slowed down for me but used to go at least twice a week. (Movies have) too much violence in most of them. So my TV and computer keep me busy. I certainly do thank you for Turtle Run. It is great. Bet I don't miss it again since I have found it. Will be checking every day now to see what is happening. Thank you so much," Merrie

Thank YOU so much for your kind words about Turtle Run! Please stick with us as we grow. We hope to provide lots more soapstuff, so do stay tuned!

"Have you ever considered as our TOP TURTLE.... printing out all the messages on the message board and trying to get them to (Ken) Corday? I know this all just seems so futile but I hate to see DAYS go the way of so many soaps. I have been watching since it was a half-hour show. Thirty five years now. Days is just a former shell of itself. The only character they keep true to herself and beloved by us all is Alice. Why can't they do that much for all the characters. They need a new writer who will respect the characters we knew and loved and quit destroying them. This is all sadder than sad. I keep watching out of loyalty of 35 years but it is hard to most days and not near the pleasure I used to look forward to. Kind Regards," Sugarface

Why not start a thread on the TRO DOOL message boards addressed to Key Corday? If the questions are posed intellectually perhaps we can get Mr. Corday to respond. It may not happen for a while, but get your questions ready and posted and I will see what I can do in getting them answered. :o)

"When is Lily (ATWT) coming home. How long was Martha Bryne going to take off for personal projects." Grov2

Funny you should ask! The good news is, Lily is back this week! See Turtle-Run's Sneak Peeks for more info on Lily's return!

"Thank you for a very interesting site. Since I'm a CBS soap watcher, will you be adding The Young and the Restless and The Bold and Beautiful? I will visit you to read about ATWT. I love the sneak peeks. Thanks anyway. I did read a lot of the posts on your message board. I use to post on the TV guide message board. There seems to be a lot of posters on yours. As always, their posts are very enjoyable. Thank you." Ladyborden

Thank you for your kind comments regarding Turtle Run. We are still working toward covering all the CBS shows, including Y&R and B&B. Please bear with us as we make strides in adding that coverage. In the meantime, check our Past Articles and Past Exclusives sections for stories and exclusive photos on the stars of Y&R and B&B! I am delighted that you enjoyed reading our message boards. Lurkers are always welcome but wed love to read your comments, too. I hope you will consider joining our message board community and sharing your opinions with us. ;o)

"Every time I go onto this website it is the same exact thing. Sure you change the sneak peeks, but the same (cover) stories are still on there. For example the" Mckenzie Tells All" story has been on there forever and so has the "Filming of Falcone" story. Please change the website. It's getting boring." Bananaboo

I am so glad you brought this up as many of you out there may be wondering the exact same thing. :o) It is very hectic behind the scenes here at Turtle Run as we work toward considering several ways to go in continuing to offer you coverage on the world of soaps. For that reason, we have not changed out the cover page content and may not get to change it in the near future. However, we do offer daily content updates in the episode recaps of the shows that are posted every day, bi-weekly updates with the Sneak Peeks and Sneakier Peeks, and this Top of the Week column -- that is just jamming with the latest information, is new every week. Please bear with us as we look into the best solutions for expanding our coverage.

"I have a suggestion to make. Even though they aren't officially called soaps, HBO's The Sopranos and OZ, and Showtimes' Queer as Folk and Soul Food are all soaps too. Have you ever thought about making a board for them? Just curious. The Sopranos is my favorite show and it is about to begin a new season next week and I would love to talk about it!" Garbos

Your prayers are answered! At least for one show. TRO is proud to now offer preview and recap information on The Sopranos! It will appear weekly in this column, beginning today. Scroll down! :o) Far as discussing the HBO and Showtime "soaps" at Turtle Run, please feel free to post in the Filming On Location: Talk About Cable TV folder on the TRO Message Boards! I look forward to reading your comments.

"Ok...If Maurice (Benard, Sonny, GH) does not get a Best Actor Emmy this year then I will know the awards are FIXED!!!! He has been just brilliant the past few days. I could actually feel his physical pain and his emotion pain when dealing with his situation. I'm glad Carly realizes what he is doing and is going to fight him every step of the way. Lets all give Maurice a round of applause for the great work he has/is and will continue to do for the fans of GH!!" MrsDrBean

Unfortunately, Benard did not receive an Emmy nod this year. However, his work is always so flawless, I am sure there are many Emmy nominations in his future.

What's Up with The Sopranos?

Airing this week is episode #30 titled, "Employee of the Month," in which Ralph Cifaretto (show newcomer, Joe "Pants" Pantoliano), who took over Richie Aprile's garbage business and is dating Jackie Aprile's widow, Rosealie, endears himself to Jackie Jr., but loses points with Tony. In the meantime, Tony's therapy takes a detour when a personal crisis gets in the way. Later, Svetlana enlists Russian thugs in her conflict with Janice. Then, New York City crime boss, Johnny Sack, moves into Tony's neighborhood.

Premiering next Sunday, March 25, 2001 is episode #31 titled, "Another Toothpick" where Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri, Sr. (show newcomer Burt Young) comes out of retirement to the chagrin of his son and Uncle Junior. In the meantime, Artie Bucco faces up to his feelings toward his wife Charmaine and his hostess, Adriana. Later, Carmela takes a more active role in Tony's therapy.

Lexis Worst Nightmare:" Tamara Clatterbuck, the acclaimed actress known to soap fans for her roles on CBSs Young & Restless and ABCs General Hospital, has just joined the cast of NBCs Days of Our Lives in the contract role of Barb," and shes not alone! Daytime newcomer Paul Logan has been cast as her husband, Glen. These two characters are bad to the bone, and they are going to quickly become Lexis (Renee Jones) worst nightmare! The chance [to be] a sex kitten was exciting to me, Clatterbuck says with a grin. Does that sound bad? I was like, Yeah, finally!' I was thrilled, to say the least.

Days of our Lives makes history with first gay male wedding

The big day finally has come! Days of our Lives made history, and it was no April fools joke. The show is known for its long standing reputation for having storylines that are firsts, or tackling controversial subjects, or going out on a limb. I mean who can forget being possessed by the devil? Well! The show just aired the first gay male wedding making the first such event in daytime television.

The story was handled impeccably, and done tastefully. The same sex relationship has been moving slowing through trials and tribulations for the last several years.

First there was the acknowledging who you are. Then the accepting, and finally the coming out. And now the jubilant wedding of the duo known as WilSon. Will Horton (Guy Wilson) and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) is taking the relationship into orbit, or like the old original Star Trek show said, 'to go where no man has gone before,' at least not on a daytime drama.
