Dear Suds Buds,

Emmy week got off to a huge start at the end of last week, beginning with the Emmys Episode of the ABC sitcom, Hope & Faith. In case you’ve been living on Mars for the last few years, Hope & Faith star, Kelly Ripa (also the co-host of Live with Regis and Kelly), got her start on All My Children, playing the first obstreperous and then vulnerable, Hayley Vaughn McIntyre Santos.

Nowadays, Ripa plays the part of over-the-top, ex soap opera actress Faith Fairfield on Hope & Faith, who was replaced on her soap, by former AMC co-star Rebecca Budig. She returns to the womb – so to speak – when she comes to the Midwest to take up life with her sister Hope and their very normal, middle-American family.  Naturally, Ripa’s character is always ready to start up one kind of ruckus or other, much to the chagrin of her sister Hope’s (played by Faith Ford), husband (Ted McGinley).

AMC's Cameron Mathison (Ryan) co-starred in the Hope & Faith Emmys Episode that aired Friday, May 14, 2004. Mathison is seen here with Kelly Ripa (Faith, Hope & Faith).

On the Emmys Episode that aired last Friday night, Ripa’s character Faith is reunited with her former fictitious soap co-stars for the Emmy Awards.  Many of Ripa’s real-life former co-stars like Susan Lucci, Cameron Mathison, Rebecca Budig, John Callahan, Bobbie Eakes, and Eva LaRue – joined by CBS daytime stars Susan Flannery and Eric Braeden, gave this hour-long send up to daytime in primetime a sense of eerie realism as it poked good-natured fun at daytime’s biggest night. I haven’t laughed so much in a long time.  The sitcom writers truly did a great job in depicting a humorous side to the industry we all know and love.

Good natured humor gave way to achievement recognition as the 31st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Creative Crafts were honored at simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles on Saturday, May 16. Visit Soapdom’s Emmy Headquarters for the list of the winners, plus our exclusive photos and inside the bubble bitty bits on the evening in Los Angeles.

Plus, we had the opportunity to find out just how Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R) copes with the pressures of being nominated. Not only that, she gave us the inside scoop on her ensemble for the Awards Ceremony broadcast this Friday.

Soapdom congratulates all the nominees of the Emmys this year.  Stay tuned to Soapdom as we continue our Emmy coverage.

What do you think about all the Daytime Emmy hype? Does it get you psyched to see the show and find out who wins or not?  Let me know on the Criticize the Critic Message Board.

General Hospital’s Lisa LoCicero Gets Up Close and Personal with Her Michigan Fans

I don't head to downtown Detroit often, but this past Friday was an exception. Why would I brave the single digit temperature and the downtown traffic? Because General Hospital's Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) was in town for a fan event.

LoCicero returned to her home state of Michigan for a meet and greet at the North American International Auto Show at Detroit's Cobo Center.

The event was part of Detroit's local ABC station, WXYZ Channel 7's 'Family Day' at the Auto Show.

It was positively frigid in Detroit on Friday. LoCicero, a Michigan native, told me she
