Dear Suds Buds,
Happy Holidays! The crush and the rush are officially upon us, but the nominating for the 4th Annual Soapdom Cybby Awards “Fun Categories” has come to an end. In just twenty days, we received over 36,000 nominations! You guys rule. Thank you so much for submitting your choices for the Soapdom Cybby Award “Fun Categories.” Tabulating the nominations for the official Cybby Awards ballot is Soapdom.com’s priority polling software. Watch for the Official Cybby Awards ballot to be posted online sometime this week, and thank you again for your participation in the 4th Annual Soapdom Cybby Awards “Fun Category” nominations.
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Aside from a fantastic turkey dinner at the home of our close friends, we went to an exciting college football game last Saturday at the Coliseum in Los Angeles where the Trojans of USC battled (rather, I should say, trounced) the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Between college football and pro ball, I much prefer college. There is such school spirit and camaraderie. I happen to be a Gator, and was really bumming when Florida State trounced Uof F last Saturday.
Speaking of football, last week’s soapdom schedule was slightly askew due to the networks Thanksgiving holiday programming, much of which was -- football. Since I was unable to tune into some of my favorite soaps last Thursday and Friday thanks to all that tackling, passing and yardage, I couldn’t help ponder what it would be like if soaps had a football team. Suddenly, I was the General Manager and began to think who I would recruit for my soaps Dream Team.
Here are a few of my first round draft picks:
- Galen Gering (Luis, PAS), Quarterback (cos I’d accept a pass from him anytime! LOL)
- Jordi Vilasuso (Tony, GL), Tight End. (need I say more?)
- Paul Leyden (Simon, ATWT), Center (cos he’s easily the center of my attention.)
- Sam Page (Trey, AMC) Halfback (cos he ain’t half bad!)
You get the idea. LOL And now, I toss the ball back to you to complete the Soapdom Dream Team. Oh and gentlemen? Yes, there can be Soapdom Dream Team Cheerleaders, too! Let me know your draft picks and why in the “Criticize the Folder” folder of the Soapdom Message Boards, and next time football interrupts our watching of our favorite soaps, we can always play our own game right here at Soapdom.com. Please adhere to Soapdom’s TOS and keep your creativity G-Rated!
Last Top of the Week we asked if you thought it was time for Soap Opera Weekly to change its name based on its now covering prime time reality, drama and comedy series with continuing storylines. 80% of you said yes, it's time for a name change to something like TV News Weekly. But 60% of you said that if Weekly changed its name, you would no longer purchase it for your soaps news.
Coming to Soapdom.com this week and next look for our features on General Hospital’s Wally Kurth and the Kurth and Taylor band; the festivities surrounding the kick-off party for “Waterfront,” a new pilot starring a number of your favorite past and present soap actors; and, hanging with DOOL’s Peter Reckell and real-life wife Kelly Moneymaker at the launch party for her new CD which includes the “Bo and Hope” theme song. Also, be sure to check the Soapdom.com home page for details on our first ever major chat! Why is it a major chat? Could be because a major soap celebrity will be our guest! Stay tuned for all the details coming soon!
Til the top of next week,
CEO, Soapdom, Inc.
