Thorsten Kaye Joins the Cast of ABC Daytime's Port Charles!
In yet another of ABC Daytime's crossover strategies, Thorsten Kaye, known as Patrick Thornhart to One Life to Live fans, will now take up residence in Port Charles as Dr. Ian Thornhart. Dr. Ian is a compassionate and intriguing man who comes to Port Charles to heal his wounded spirit. Having spent time working in third-world countries, Dr. Thornhart needs to re-educate himself on state-of-the-art medicine and joins the staff of General Hospital. In case you were wondering, yes. Ian Thornhart is Patrick Thornhart's brother!
According to Angela Shapiro, President of ABC Daytime, "Thorsten's immense popularity as Patrick Thornhart on One Life to Live made it a smart decision to bring him to Port Charles as Patrick's brother, Ian. I think the fans will enjoy the immediate impact that Dr. Thornhart will have on certain people in Port Charles," she said.
In his first episode, the headstrong doctor rushes a child with head trauma into the emergency room and immediately begins barking orders to the other staffers. Taken aback, Dr. Chris Ramsey (Nolan North) questions the stranger, only to find out that Ian is a fellow doctor. In subsequent episodes, Ian unintentionally reveals to Dr. Joe Scanlon (David Gail) and Dr. Ramsey a startling secret about their chief resident, Dr. Karen Wexler (Marie Wilson).
Kaye is best known to ABC Daytime fans for playing Patrick Thornhart, the irresistible poet of Llanview, a role he held on One Life to Live from 1995-1997. His primetime credits include Law & Order,Sliders, Nothing Lasts Forever, and Air America. He has appeared on the London stage in such productions as The Winter's Tale, Love for Love, and Tartuffe. A seasoned Shakespearean actor, he has performed in theatrical productions including MacBeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Love's Labour's Lost, Twelfth Night, and The Taming of the Shrew.
The actor also has a long list of film credits. After working with director David Worth (Bloodsport) in the film, The Prophet's Game, starring Dennis Hopper, Kaye reteamed with Worth in the upcoming HBO thriller Shark Attack II. He has also appeared in The Silencers, Deadly Desire, and The Bone Collector.
An avid rugby player, Kaye played throughout Europe before enrolling in graduate school at Wayne State University. Upon earning his master's degree in theater and theatre history, he joined the Hilberry Repertory Theatre Company in Detroit. He has also published a book of original poetry called "From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens," with Dorothy Bridges, widow of actor Lloyd Bridges. Proceeds from the book, which accompanied a CD release of the same name, go to Give Kids the World, a charity for sick children.
The official announcement regarding Kaye's return to ABC Daytime was made by ABC Daytime on April 18, 2000. Kaye's first airdate as Ian Thornhart is Friday, May 5, 2000. Visit Thorsten Kaye online at http://www.catandmoon.com/ThorstenKaye.

As we all know, Linda Dano plays the ubiquitous Rae Cummings on All My Children, General Hospital, One Life to Live and Port Charles. The character of Rae, a charming, vibrant relationship expert, has been crossing between the ABC dramas for the past year, as she searches for her long-lost daughter, but this marks the first time she will appear on the entire daytime lineup in one single week.
"Returning to ABC has been like going home again," says Dano. "My first job in New York, my first TV family and friends, have all been with ABC. How fitting that this new adventure would spin me to every part of ABC Daytime. I am very honored and proud."
On Monday April 24, 2000 Dano joins the ladies of The View to discuss her unique journey through the ABC Daytime lineup. That same day, she appears on General Hospital, where Rae has discovered a clue concerning the whereabouts of her missing daughter, and reconnects with ex-flame Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon). Tuesday, April 25 finds Rae on both General Hospital and Port Charles, as meddlesome Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) interferes in Rae's affairs, speculating about the identity of her daughter. On Wednesday, April 26, Rae continues on Port Charles, questioning Eve Lambert (Julie Pinson) about her background, wondering if perhaps she has found her missing child. Rae crosses over to All My Children on Thursday, April 27, as she contacts Myrtle (Eileen Herlie), her birth mother with whom she was recently reunited. Then on Friday, April 28, Rae returns to One Life to Live, where a devastating tragedy has just occurred. During Rae's stay in Llanview, sparks may again ignite with charming police detective John Sykes (John Bolger).
