Hi Suds Buds:

Happy Columbus Day. Did you get a 3-day weekend? The networks were off today, but Soapdom is working.  It’s a beautiful, Indian Summer day here in LA.  Those in LA who had the day off got a beautiful long weekend.

Not only was this a holiday weekend for many, it was also a weekend full of charity events that got soap stars out in force.

In New York, along with the annual Guiding Light fan club luncheon, the 8th annual St. Jude’s Benefit took place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel on Friday, October 10, 2003.  Over 80 stars, representing all nine soaps, came out to give of their time to help ATWT’s Martha Byrne (Lily/Rose) raise funds for St. Jude’s.  Along with a confirmed list of notable attendees, many stars showed up unannounced to delight the fans. Stay tuned to Soapdom.com for our Fan Tale coverage of this year’s event.  According to our Fan Tale reporter, Phyllis Tremblay, Drake Hogestyn (John, DOOL), who is usually so accustomed to being mobbed by fans at Days of our Lives events, was a little out of his element when he attended an As the World Turns pre-party.  Most of the fans there were ATWT fans, and didn’t have a clue who Hogestyn was!  Not to worry. Hogestyn took it in stride and had a blast at the pre-party anyway.  "Drake gives the best hugs," noted Tremblay.  (Photo of Drake and fans by Phyllis Tremblay).

While much of soapdom’s star power was on the east coast partying at the St. Jude’s benefit, several fund raisers were held here on the west coast. At a golf outing fundraiser in Yorba Linda, CA on Saturday, October 11, 2003 some of your favorite stars teed off, including:

*Greg Vaughan, (Lucky) General Hospital
*Sean Kanan, (Deacon) The Bold & The Beautiful
*Sarah Michelle Gellar, (ex Kendall) All My Children
*Paolo Benedeti, (ex Antonio) The Bold & The Beautiful
*Cindy Ambuehl, former The Bold & The Beautiful
*James Hyde, (Sam) Passions
*Patrika Darbo, (ex Nancy) Days of Our Lives

On the other side of Los Angeles at the Autry Museum of Western Heritage (a must see site if you’re ever vacationing in LA.), another fundraiser for the Desi Geestman Foundation took place with more of your favorite stars including:

*Bobbie Eakes (Macy, Bold & the Beautiful)
*Blake Gibbons (Coleman,General Hospital, Legend of Butch & Sundance)
*Winsor Harmon (Thorne, Bold & the Beautiful)
*Sean Kanan (Deacon, Bold & the Beautiful)
*Natalia Livingston (Emily, General Hospital)
*John McCook (Eric, Bold & the Beautiful; Lance,Young & the Restless)
*J. Robin Miller (Lydia, General Hospital)
*Ronn Moss (Ridge, Bold & the Beautiful
*Andrea Pearson (Gia, General Hospital)
*Brittney Powell (Summer, General Hospital, Bold & the Beautiful)
*Cynthia Preston (Faith, General Hospital, The Event)
*Justin Torkildsen (Rick, Bold & the Beautiful)

I really have to hand it to soaps’ celebrities.  Not only do they work hard all week long acting on their shows, they work overtime when they give of their time to come out for these events.   Kudos to all and stay tuned to Soapdom.com for our coverage of a few of these events coming within the next few days.

Coming SOON to Soapdom.com

Til the top of next week,
