Dear Suds Buds,

SOAPnet, the new way to watch soaps, announced this week that their “Beverly Hills 90210” launch promotion efforts including a “Passport to Privilege” sweepstakes and “Peach Pit After-Dark” parties will take place in five local markets.  “Beverly Hills 90210” will air weekdays at 5PM on SOAPnet beginning January 21st.

"The Beverly Hills 90210 launch campaign provides us with a tremendous opportunity to reconnect viewers with the people, places and things they loved about the series,” said Sherri York, Vice President Marketing, SOAPnet.  “It also gives us the opportunity to reach our fans locally and demonstrate the incredible consumer demand for the network.”

The sweepstakes, which runs from January 7-21, will award one lucky winner a trip for two to Los Angeles and the chance to live like Beverly Hills 90210 characters for a fabulous weekend.  The winner will stay at the Wyndam Bel Age Hotel where Dylan resided and a gift certificate to Donna’s favorite store, Fred Segal, will be awarded.  Additionally, the winner will have brunch at the Beverly Hills Beach Club where Brandon and Andrea worked over their summer vacations.  The winner will also receive a chauffeured limousine tour of Beverly Hills 90210 show locations including the “Walsh’s” house and the diner that was The Peach Pit.

Sweepstakes participants can enter online at SOAPnet.com from January 7-21.  The winner will be chosen on or before February 4, 2005, your QueenRuler's birthday! :o)

Peach Pit After-Dark parties debut in Los Angeles at Club Ice on January 21, follow in Houston, TX at The Surf Shack; Cincinnati, OH at Club Kiss and Kansas City, KS at Lucky’s Brew Grill on January 22nd and wrap-up in  Detroit, MI at Tonic on January 23rd. Activities at each of the parties include 90210-themed “TVoke” where party-goers can act out scenes from “Beverly Hills 90210” in karaoke style with the show playing on video screens, 90210-themed drinks and 90210-know-it-all trivia questions.  SOAPnet will work with cable affiliates in each market to determine their participation at the parties.

Beverly Hills 90210 will premiere Friday, January 21th and air weekdays at 5PM on SOAPnet.  The long running teen drama featuring Jason Priestly, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Shannen Doherty, Luke Perry and Brian Austin Green features the lives and loves of a group of friends in Beverly Hills.  The show touches on a variety of growing pains including teen romance, bitter break-ups drug addiction and divorce.  This long-running series traces the lives of these close high school friends through college and into their adulthood.

What do you guys think?  Are you going to check back in to Beverly Hills 90210?  Tell me your thoughts on anything soap related on the Criticize the Critic boards.

Til the top of next week,

Behind the Scenes Days of our Lives: Wardrobe

As Costume Designer for Days of our Lives, Richard Bloore knows how to make the stars sparkle and shine. A veteran of the business, he has been with the show for 18 years, after a brief time away (Unfortunately, he got the ax at one point.  Canned. Fired. Oh no!), he is now back at the helm.

"I was!" he admitted laughing when the subject of his being fired came up. "But I'm glad to be back and really enjoy what I do," Bloore said. "I have started in this business many years ago and still find it a joy to be working."

Bloore's career began out of college by answering an ad in The Times newspaper. A designer was looking for help and he applied with his portfolio.
