Dear Suds Buds:

Interesting things afoot on ABC soaps this week.  ABC has recently been the brunt of actor stealing by CBS.  ATWT wooed away the likes of Cady McClain (Rosanna; ex Cady, AMC), Reál Andrews (Walker; ex Taggert, GH) and Roger Howarth (Paul; ex Todd, OLTL).  B&B nabbed Brian Gaskill (Oscar; ex Rafe, PC).

This week the tables turn as two former CBS stars join the ranks of ABC Daytime, along with one NBC star.

On All My Children, Bobbie Eakes, who enjoyed a long on again off again career on B&B as Macy, begins airing as Krystal, Babe’s trailer-trash mother.   On One Life to Live, Daytime Emmy winner Heather Tom, the former Victoria on Y&R, takes over in the role of Kelly.  Plus, OLTL will also feature Matthew Ashford as The Professor, fresh from being the second victim of the Salem Serial Stalker on Days of our Lives.

Does actor-stealing tactic work among the fans?  Do you follow a favorite actor to a new soap, or do you continue to watch your regular shows?  Will you tune in if the competing soap is on at a different time than your usual favorite show?  Will you abandon your favorite soap if the competing show with your favorite actor airs in the same timeslot?  Let me know in the Criticize the Critic forum on the Soapdom.com message boards.

Speaking of soap actors, in this spirit of holiday cheer, why not send a holiday card to your favorite actor – no matter what soap they are currently on?  Let them know how much you appreciate the hard work and long hours they put in each day just to entertain you.  Wish them what they wish for themselves in the New Year. Let them know you are out there rooting for them and enjoying their work.  Write to your favorite star care of the name of the show.  For a list of the snail mail addresses for each soap, click here!

Northwestern Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center Foundation in Chicago recently held a Cancer Survivors Walk. It was the 24th annual to celebrate being cancer free and to honor the loved ones that lost their battle.

For Chicago TV personality, Ryan Chiaverini of ABC 7's Windy City Live, this was a very special and emotional day. Chiaverini participated in the 5K walk/run to honor his mother, Edna, who he lost a few months ago to cancer. He formed a team called 'Team Edna' and everyone wore T-Shirts with the logo 'Team Edna.'
