Hi Suds Buds:

Voting in the 4th Annual Soapdom Cybby Awards closed at midnight on Saturday, May 31, 2003.  Voting ran just over four weeks.  Did you pick the same winners for the Emmy Categories, or did you have other ideas?  Which network topped the total number of wins?  Which soap?  Did your favorites win a Cybby this year?

Stay tuned to Soapdom.com this week when we will announce the winners in the 4th Annual Soapdom Cybby Awards.  Here’s what I can share so far:

...Watch out for a few big surprises in the Emmy Categories!

...Winners in the Fun Categories covered a spectrum of all ten soaps and actors.

...A few fan favorites won more than once!

...In one Fun Category, there was a TIE!

But who won?  Who tied?  Keep checking Soapdom.com to find out the winners!  Coming to Soapdom later this week.

DOOL, AMC and OLTL Fan4Alls!

What a weekend it was in soaps this past weekend.  Both Days of our Lives, All My Children, and One Life to Live held major fan events in Los Angeles.

For Days fans, it was the “Unofficial Fan Weekend,” a fan club event that’s been held in LA for years.  Why is it called “unofficial” now?  Because NBC Network considers NBC/Telemuendo Fan Fest in Los Angeles, and CMA Fan Fair (coming June 5-8, 2003) in Nashville, TN to be their official fan gatherings.  But since this particular fan club tradition has been around for so long, the stars continue to participate and the fans come from all over the country each year just to meet their favorite DOOL star.

While down at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim, CA, stars from AMC and OLTL came in from the east coast in droves to meet their fans.  Soapdom was there to capture the event on film.  Plus, we spent a large part of the time Inside the Bubble in the Official Press Room, getting the latest photos and dish from your favorites.  Stay tuned to Soapdom.com this week for our coverage on the first of ABC Super Soap Weekends West.  We’ll be heading back to Disney’s California Adventure in a few days (June 7-8) to cover the General Hospital/Port Charles Super Soap West.  Stay tuned for all our official coverage of both Super Soap Weekends.

Speaking of fan events, did you attend one or more of the events this past weekend?  Did you get to meet the DOOL, AMC or OLTL star of your dreams?  Let us know about your experience by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Réal Andrews (Walker Daniels, ATWT, ex Taggert, GH)Réal Andrews Debuts on ATWT this Week

In exciting news for As the World Turns fans, Réal Andrews (ex Taggert, GH) makes his first appearance in Oakdale this week as Medical Detective, Walker Daniels.  Just exactly what is a Medical Detective?  Well, that remains to be seen. Suffice to say, Walker gets involved in the mystery surrounding an unexplained death or two at the hospital.   Will he solve the mystery post haste?  Stay tuned to ATWT and see!

Réal Andrews, who enjoyed his tenure on General Hospital, never really had much of a storyline. He played foil to the character of Sonny (Maurice Benard) on too many occasions, but never got to truly display his talent as an actor in a major way.  He is grateful to his GH castmates, especially Benard, who according to Andrews, was a role model actor, and taught him a thing or two about acting for soaps.  But now, Andrews is delighted to be moving on to place where he can have a story he can sink his teeth into. According to his comments on his message center at http://www.realandrews.net, he is proud to be working on the Emmy award-winning As the World Turns, and looks forward to a storyline that is really heating up.
“Of course I am not able to tell you what is going on,” he said to his fans “but I can tell you it is Good! I can barely wait to read the next script to find out what is happening.”

Although he is switching shows and networks, he remains loyal to his former GH following as he anticipates getting to know new fans from ATWT.

“The thing I am most excited about is the fact that we have a different time slot than GH because I respect your loyalty and would not want to have to put you in the position to make a choice,” he continued. “This way you can have the best of both worlds!  However I must warn you be prepared to get hooked, I truly have not seen such good writing and producing. Can we say Drama/Love/Drama/love?  Need we say more?”

Could this mean that there’s a love story in the works for Andrews at long last?  We can only hope.  Soapdom got to know Andrews a tad when we followed him out to compete in the LA Triathlon a few years ago as part of our StarDay feature.  He is as spiritual as he is talented, as loving as he is drop dead gorgeous.  We can’t wait to see just how the new character of Medical Detective, Walker Daniels will impact the canvas in Oakdale.  We have a feeling that ATWT fans are in for a treat and we wish Andrews all the best on his new venture!
