Drucilla Keeps Busy Even Out of Genoa City!
Victoria Rowell (Drucilla, Y&R) isn't afraid to speak her mind. Appearing as a guest panelist on America's Black Forum special: Blacks in TV, 25 Years — airing in syndication beginning Jan. 5 — Rowell gives a voice to race relations in the daytime arena.
"The Young and the Restless does reflect diversity in daytime, and it is practiced by CBS and Sony by way of our show," says Rowell proudly. "I give homage to what we've been doing for the past 30 years, and stress how [diversity] should effect all mediums."
Participating in the distinguished discusion, which includes civil rights leader Julian Bond, was an honor for the actress. "You are not invited to sit on a panel with Julian if you don't know your facts," she declares. "We discussed politics, media and programming; it's a very rich experience."
Forum is just one of many projects that kept Rowell busy through the end of the year. She just wrapped the movie, A Perfect Fit, in New York City. "I'm starring with an actor named Adrian Grenier, and people are calling him a young Benicio Del Toro."
Through Rowell Foster Children's Positive Plan, the actress threw a foster care reform kickoff party at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles, which brought out action star Bruce Willis. And the advocate is featured as the Hero of the Month in the January issue of Glamour magazine. "On page 22. I'm not ashamed to make the plug," she chuckles.
