Nominations For The 18th Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards Announced Today!

'Winners Are Exclusively in the Hands of the Fans'

Ballots Must be Received by January 3, 2003

NEW YORK, Dec. 12, 2002 -- Soap Opera Digest Magazine -- America's favorite soap magazine for over 25 years and a PRIMEDIA, Inc. publication, today announced the nominees for the 18th Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards.  In the issue hitting stands on December 17th fans will find the ballot with a list of nominees that reads like the who's who of daytime television.  Once again only the fans will determine the winners.

To qualify in the final tabulations of the ballot, only available in this issue of the weekly magazine, fans must complete and return the ballot to Deloitte & Touche by Friday, January 3, 2003.  Winners will be announced in the magazine and during a star-studded live SOAPnet special on April 12th hosted by Soap Talk's hosts Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway.  Past hosts of the Soap Opera Digest Awards spectacular include Kelsey Grammer, Paul Reiser, Jane Leeves, George Hamilton and David Hasselhoff.

Nominees for the 18th Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards are all-inclusive, representing every daytime soap opera currently airing on the broadcast networks (NBC, CBS and ABC).  Favorites include General Hospital's Maurice Bernard and Vanessa Marcil, The Young & The Restless's Michelle Stafford, Days of Our Lives' Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell. New this year are nominations for "SOAPnet's Outstanding Plot Twist," which can only be voted on at: SOAPnet.com.

"Soap Opera Digest magazine is proud to present a ballot that truly represents the finest in daytime television.  And our readers are the ones who get to choose the best of the best," says Editorial Director, Lynn Leahey. "The winners are exclusively in the hands of the fans."

Past winners of The Soap Opera Digest Awards include Anne Heche (Another World), Robin Wright (Santa Barbara), Lisa Rinna and Patrick Muldoon (Days of Our Lives), and Alec Baldwin (Knots Landing).
