To commemorate Black History Month, the six African-American contract players on the popular NBC daytime soap opera "Passions" have joined together to record public service announcements that celebrate the achievement of African-Americans.  The six 15-second spots are being made available exclusively to all NBC affiliates.

Rodney van Johnson (TC, PAS) Photo NBCThe spots feature all the actors that are involved with the core Russell family -- a middle class African-American household.  The actors, appearing as themselves, are Rodney Van Johnson (TC Russell); Tracey Ross (Eve, PAS) Photo: NBCTracey Ross (Eve Russell); Amelia Marshall (Liz Sanborn); Brook Kerr (Whitney Russell); Chyrstee Pharris (Simone Russell); and Charles Divins (Chad Harris).  In the spots, the actors salute African-Amelia Marshall (Liz, PAS)Americans that have risen to prominence by following their dreams.  The subjects of the spots are Sidney Poitier, Marian Anderson, Alex Haley, Thurgood Marshall, Condoleezza Rice and Bill Cosby.

"The PSA campaign is another example of Passions' commitment to diversity and inclusion. I'm very proud of our actors and our Crystee Pharris (Simone, PAS)record of color-blind story telling," said Sheraton Kalouria, SVP, Daytime Programs, NBC Entertainment.

"Passions" (2.0/12 among women 18-49, 2.4/14 among women 18-34) finished the Jan. 20-24 week tied for No. 7 among women 18-49 and was No. 2 among women 18-34.
