Designer moves to Springfield
Patricia Field, best known for her work on HBO's Sex and the City, has been named Consulting Designer to Guiding Light, the CBS daytime drama, effective Monday, August 12, announced the show's Executive Producer Paul Rauch. Field joins Guiding Light Costume Designer Shawn Dudley in heading up the design team of the longest-running daily program in broadcast history.

"We are thrilled to have Patricia Field join us at Guiding Light," said Rauch. "Her unique and exceptional sense of style will help put our fictional town of Springfield, USA on the map along with fashion capitals Paris, Milan and New York City."

Added Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin, Executive-in-Charge of Production for Procter & Gamble Productions, which produces Guiding Light, "Patricia's fashion-forward sensibility combined with her recent work on such a hot television series provides her

with a keen sense of style that will help to make Guiding Light, a respected show which has already led the way in daytime drama for 50 years, a trendsetter on the fashion front as well."

Detailing her plans for the show, Field explains, "I'd like to create more distinction between the show's characters, and plan to give the show's fashion a sense of heightened reality -- giving Guiding Light extra visual interest wherever I can."

Field entered the entertainment industry in the 1980s as costume designer for the television series Crime Story. Her subsequent credits include television's Wiseguy and Spin City, as well as the feature films Miami Rhapsody and The Substitute. She received a 1998 Emmy for Outstanding Costumes for a Miniseries, Movie or Special for Disney's television feature Mother Goose Rock and Rhyme, and recently garnered a third Emmy nomination for Outstanding Costumes for a Series for her work on Sex and the City, for which she remains Costume Designer.
