Portofino & Camogli, Italy, Nov. 3, 2002 – The Bold and the Beautiful, the world’s most watched television series, returns to Italy this week for its third location shoot, this time on the world-famous Italian Riviera. Well into its sixteenth season of production and featuring almost 4,000 episodes of romance and family drama, The Bold and the Beautiful is the number two-rated American daytime serial and airs in over 110 foreign territories.
The stars of this internationally popular drama series who have made the trip to Italy are Ronn Moss (Ridge Forrester), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan), Susan Flannery (Stephanie Forrester), John McCook (Eric Forrester), Darlene Conley (Sally Spectra), Joe Mascolo (Massimo Marone), Winsor Harmon (Thorne Forrester), Jennifer Finnigan (Bridget Forrester), Daniel McVicar (Clarke Garrison), Sandra Vidal (Sofia Alonso) and newly-cast Luigi Amodeo (Lorenzo).
Making a special surprising return to The Bold and the Beautiful in the scenes taping in Italy is Bobbie Eakes, who returns as Macy Alexander.
The Bold and the Beautiful production will shoot portions of over 20 episodes this week, which will begin airing in the United States on December 5, 2002, and in Italy in Spring 2003. The story revolves around a trip by both Forrester Creations and Spectra Fashions to Portofino and Camogli to take part in a fashion competition, featuring a dual runway show on the Portofino Pier, pitting father against son (Eric against Ridge Forrester). The fashion show climaxes with a stunning nautical finale.
The fashion show scenes will involve hundreds of extras including contest winners from Australia, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Italy, Norway, Romania, Switzerland, and the United States.
Italian guest stars include Edoardo Costa (Riccardo Moretti, from the popular Italian Canale 5 soap opera Vivere) and Annamaria Malipiero (who plays Rebecca Sarpi in Vivere) as judges of the competition, and Marina La Rosa as a Spectra Top Model. Famous Italian movie critic Claudio G. Fava and Silvana Giacobini, Editor of CHI magazine and hostess of a popular Canale 5 entertainment magazine show will also appear as judges.
Italian Production Service Mestiere Cinema, headed by Guido Cerasuolo, whose credits include Star Wars Episodes One and Two, and Gladiator, rejoins The Bold and the Beautiful for the third time as Coordinating Producer for the remote. Previous remotes by The Bold and the Beautiful in Italy were in Lake Como (1997) and Venice (1999).
Local production partners include the Portofino Coast Incoming Consortium (Mr. Franco Orio, President), the Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi in Camogli and the Splendido Hotel in Portofino, which are primary locations for production.
The Bold and the Beautiful team for the remote includes Executive Producer and Head Writer Bradley Bell, Supervising Producer Rhonda Friedman, Senior Producer Ron Weaver, Director Michael Stich, Production Designer Jack Forrestel, Costume Designer Birgit Muller and Lighting Designer Lauri Moorman.
