NEW YORK, Nov. 11, 2003  -- Emmy Award-winning actress Julia Barr, best known as "Brooke English" on the ABC daytime drama All My Children, didn't want to just lend her name in support of The Fund For Animals.

Her holiday CD, From Our House ... To Yours, was produced by Barr and her husband Dr. Richard Hirschlag, an oral surgeon, to raise awareness and money for The Fund For Animals (, which works for the protection and rights of wildlife and domestic animals. Barr has been a spokesperson for The Fund since 1999 and works actively to educate people on animal-related issues. The CD is a collection of her family's favorite holiday classics ($15 or $25 for an autographed copy).

"I have studied singing for many years and my professional roots are in musical theatre. I believe that music is another way to reach people," says Barr. "This project was truly an act of love and a family production. Not only did my husband do all of the musical arrangements, but also our daughter Allison (who played "Lizzie" on Guiding Light) also lent her wonderful voice."

Michael Markarian, President of The Fund For Animals, said, "Julia is a
powerful spokesperson for our organization because she is truly passionate
about the cause of animal protection. She has used her voice -- and now her
singing voice -- to help bring attention to the importance of spaying and
neutering companion animals, adopting animals from shelters, coexisting with
urban wildlife, and other important issues for animals in need."

In addition to the CD, Barr uses her website,, to
inform people about tangible ways they can make a difference at home with
their own animal companions, and the wildlife outside their own back door.
From safely removing bats from the attic, to keeping dogs and cats safe during
the holidays, Barr works closely with The Fund For Animals to provide her
website visitors (and All My Children fans) with accurate and useful

Barr joined All My Children as Brooke English in June 1976. She has
received critical acclaim for her work, including two Emmy Awards (1990 and

All My Children's Brooke English is promoting a cause that's very close to her heart -- The Fund for Animals, a global organization that works to protect wildlife and domestic critters.

Last year, Barr and her husband, Dr. Richard Hirschlag, co-produced their own holiday CD, From Our House to Yours, donating all proceeds to The Fund for Animals. The CD was such a success that the pet-centric couple has decided to reissue it this year, once again to support their favorite animal protection-org.

The CD features Julia and Ritchie harmonizing on 11 Christmas favorites including "Let It Snow!", "Silent Night" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The Hirschlags' daughter, Allison (ex-Lizzie Spaulding, Guiding Light) joins them on several cuts.

"I am very proud of this project," Julia explains. "I've wanted to use my voice in other ways besides 'speaking' about animal protectionBnd I believe that music is another way to reach people. This project was truly an act of love and a family production."From Our House to Yours is available exclusively through The Fund for Animals at or by calling 1-888-405-FUND. 100 percent of the purchase price will go directly to The Fund.
