AMC Gets New Co-Head Writer

Anna Cascio joins Gordon Rayfield as the co-head writer ABC Daytime’s Emmy-winning "All My Children,” effective December 30, 2002 it was announced today by Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime.

Cascio, like Rayfield, participated in the ABC Daytime Writer Development Program, a long-term commitment to the development of new, creative talent and to the employment of culturally and ethnically diverse new writers. After completion of the program in 1996, she was hired as a writer on One Life to Live.

A graduate of the Yale Drama School, Cascio is an accomplished playwright with credits including “June 8, 1968,” “Minny and the James Boys,” “Bikini Snow,” and the book for the award-winning musical, “The House of Martin Guerre” Cascio is also the recipient of the Rockefeller Grant, which enabled her to write and produce “Rushmore,” at the Center Stage Theatre in Baltimore.

Upon completing the ABC Daytime Writer Development Program in 1996, Rayfield was also hired to write for One Life to Live. In April of 2002 he joined the AMC writing team. In Daytime, he was also an associate head writer on “Another World.”  In addition, Rayfield wrote the screenplay for “Our America,” a film that had its world premiere at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and was also shown at the 2002 Seattle and Chicago Film Festivals. He wrote and co-produced “Stand Up,” a School break Special, for which he won an Emmy Award and a Writers Guild Award, as well as “Law & Order” and “Life Stories.”

Soapdom congratulates Anna Cascio on landing the coveted co-head writer spot on All My Children and looks forward to her contributions in tandem with those of Gordon Rayfield.

Days of our Lives Guy Wilson: playing Will is a dream come true

The day Guy Wilson stepped in to play Will Horton, a beloved gay character on Days of our Lives, it was a day that his dream came true. "Oh without a doubt. I remember driving in and pulling into the lot. I kept thinking this is cool!" Wilson said. "Then when I got on the soundstage with the cameras and the lights started going on, I was like getting a little nervous. It was all surreal."

Did he have reason to be nervous? Of course! Not only is Will a coveted role to the show, but the part was previously played by Chandler Massey, who has won two Emmy Awards portraying Will. But for Wilson it is a job going to work. Massey left this past August to go back to college.
