hspace=5 src= hspace=10 src=Sources close to One Life to Live whisper to Soapdom that a new Clint Buchanan has been cast with someone whose face should seem very familiar to daytime audiences.  It is none other than Jerry Ver Dorn, a.k.a. Guiding Light's Ross Marler.  The actor is said to begin taping at the OLTL studios on Friday, September 17th.  Clint Ritchie starred in the role for over 20 years (from 1979 to 1999 and again for brief stints in 2000 and 2003).  No word on why ABC went with ver Dorn, a CBS veteran, given Richie's own popularity with fans as part of the Clint/Vicki (Erika Slezak) contingent, although location could have been the source of contention. Since Richie's departure in 1999 - although he did pop up two more times on OLTL, the actor has claimed to be "semiretired" now spending most of his time enjoying the view of his sprawling Northern California ranch. So location could have been the bone of contention -- OLTL tapes in mid-Manhattan, a long 3,000 miles from California.  There was no word officially from either camp. (Contributed by LDB)

hspace=5 src=According to our sources, Laura Wright has posted to her official message board at that General Hospital offered her the role of Carly and she said yes, yes, yes!  "As sad as I am to leave a wonderful place that I called home for a long time," Wright posted, "it is time for me to go. This was not an easy decision. But my husband and I talked about it, and we said, 'What the hell! Let's live on the West Coast for a few years!" Wright is delighted to play the role of Carly. "Wow! What a challenge. I start working in October, so I don't know when I will start airing. I know so many of the GH fans loved the past actresses who played this part. I know I have big shoes to fill. I hope I make you proud." (Contributed by LDB and MEW)

hspace=10 src=Congratulations to AMC's Michael E. Knight (Tad) who stars in the independent feature film, Rounding First. hspace=5 src=Who says that your past never comes back to haunt you?  General Hospital and Dancing With The Stars babe, Kelly Monaco (Sam) will soon have her fans seeing her in a totally different light.  According to TVGuide online, Playboy has decided to reap the benefits of Monaco's recent success and reprint previously-shot nudes of the former April, 1997 Playmate.  Whether or not the actress will be disturbed by the news remains to be seen.  The issue featuring Monaco's assets hits newstands in November. hspace=5 src=According to sources, Grant Aleksander (ex Philip, GL) was seen on sister soap, As the World Turns last week. Apparently, he was on set and in his hand was a script.  Could Aleksander be headed for a role on ATWT? Or, is he up to direct an episode? The consensus on the speculation seems to favor the second scenario.  When Aleksander starred on AMC, he used to direct an episode or two.  ATWT EP, Chris Goutman, hails from AMC as well.  Plus, Aleksander has been very vocal in regard to his aspirations behind the scenes. Maybe, Procter & Gamble Television Productions is giving Aleksander an offer he just can't refuse.  Direct ATWT, and return to your role as Phillip on GL?  Time will tell. (Contributed by CL)

hspace=5 src=NO REST FOR THE WORKING  Crystal Hunt, who plays bad girl Lizzie Spaulding on CBS-TV's Guiding Light, keeps busy even while on vacation.  As a special birthday present, the 20-year old actress is treating her mother to a cruise on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas ocean liner.  While on the cruise, Crystal is organizing a large supply drive in her hometown of Clearwater, FL to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Then, on the final day of the cruise, Crystal will be the Celebrity Guest Judge for the ship's karaoke contest.  Once she returns from the cruise she will appear on local morning television and radio shows prior to driving a truckload of supplies to The Healing Place Shelter in Baton Rouge, LA. Anyone wanting to donate, here is a list of supplies the Hunt family is collecting along with an address for drop-off by September 28th.

Drop Off Location:
MONDAY -- FRIDAY from 8:00AM -- 5:00PM
The following is a list of suggested items:
*feminine hygiene products
*first aid supplies
*razors/shaving cream
*rubber gloves/masks
*large trash bags
*toilet tissue
*facial tissue
*disposable diapers
*baby formulas/baby food
*towels/wash cloths
*bottled water
*canned drinks
*canned juices
*non-perishable canned and dried food

hspace=5 src=Trent Dawson (Henry, ATWT), a native of Baton Rouge, LA is suggesting ways everyone can help in the Katrina Relief efforts. "Send money or supplies or donate anything you can. Volunteering for the Red Cross is a great thing to do if you have the time. Go to their Web site, or call 1-800-HELP NOW. There are 20 states now offering housing, so if there's any way to participate in that, on a local level, that would be helpful. One thing my aunt was saying was bug spray. Baton Rouge is the West Nile haven, so you've got the potential for some massive disease spread. I'm hoping that FEMA is on top of that. It's one of my favorite cities. I don't know what they're going to do. I've been trying to avoid the blame game, because there's a lot of blame to go around. Let's just get everybody out of the water right now." As reported to Jennifer Lenhart. (Contributed by CL)

hspace=10 src=Big Buzz has been flying for the past week that Jennifer Bransford (Carly Corinthos) has been let go from General Hospital. Bransford took over the role this past April after Tamara Braun exited to pursue other interests.  However, fans have been less than kind to Bransford's portrayal of Carly, a character that is a huge fan favorite.  Have TPTB opened an ear to the fan outcry?  We heard one rumor that claimed Tamara Braun (ex Carly) was going to be returning to the role and her first airdate was Tuesday, September 6.  But a call to the show spokesperson first thing Tuesday morning revealed that Bransford was still there and well entrenched. In fact, she was on set at that moment taping an episode and that she would be appearing on air, but that's as far as the spokesperson would comment.

Today, more rumblings are coming our way, and they include not only Bransford's exit, but a possible recast.  Guiding Light's Laura Wright (Cassie) has hspace=5 src=opted not to renew her contract with GL when it expires in October.  Her role will be recast on GL.  But credible sources are saying that Laura Wright has been cast as the new nuCarly on GH.  Again, the GH spokesperson is not commenting at this time. The GL spokesperson has confirmed that Wright is indeed leaving GL at the end of her contract, and states that everyone at GL wish her the best in her new endeavors.  He does not mention her heading west to the set of GH, but we think that's where she's headed.  We will keep you apprised of this breaking story. And in October look for One Life to Live to really heat things up, leaving some Llanview residents shook up. Are they planning a natural disaster like Katrina? Stay tuned. (Contributed by MEW)
