Unless you've been living on a dessert island somewhere in the path Jack Sparrow's Black Pearl, you're aware that this November marks the 25 anniversary of soaps' most memorable nuptials, the wedding of General Hospital's Luke and Laura. You're also aware that Genie Francis, who originated the role of Laura and played her on and off for those 21 of those years is on her way back to Port Charles. This November, Laura may be emerging from the catatonic state she's been in since 2002 to help GH celebrate the 25th anniversary of Luke and Laura's wedding. Rest assured, ABC Daytime is planning a major, major promotion to herald the 25th anniversary of the most watched daytime episode in soaps history. Soapdom has just received an invitation from ABC Daytime and SOAPnet. On the cover is a pic of Tony Geary (Luke) and Genie Francis (Laura) during the wedding ceremony 25 years ago. The caption reads: "Their marriage wasn't permanent..." Flipping the invite reveals the rest of the message: "...But Their Hair Was!" Say what? Yup, that's what it says. I swear. LOL. Not quite sure where they are going with the hair thing, but the invite goes on to say: "Save the date and commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Luke and Laura's wedding with ABC Daytime and SOAPnet -- all this November." This is what one would call a big "teaser!" We’ve got a feeling that ABC Daytime and SOAPnet have lots in store for us during November Sweeps. As more details become available, we will pass them on to you. Stay tuned. (Photo, ©ABC Photo Archives) Contributed by LMS
In more General Hospital Buzz, Emily and Sonny will soon be over. I'm hearing that the show is looking to explore a Sonny/Carly/Jax triangle. Eerily familiar of Brenda, no? Contributed by LDB

As previously reported in Buzz, Cady McClain (Dixie, All My Children; ex-Rosanna, As The World Turns) confesses on her official website (www.cadymcclain.com) that she is dating former costar Hunt Block (ex-Craig, As The World Turns). Although the Emmy-winning actress does not go into detail, she includes pictures of Block attending one of her recording sessions for her latest CD, Blue GlitterFish, and even attests in one blog entry: "Yes, HB is my boyfriend. Sheesh! How embarrassing ... but how lucky am I?" Contributed by LDB
The location of Maurice Benard's (Sonny, General Hospital) annual fan event on July 24th was moved from the Sportsmen's Lodge in Studio City, California, to The Beverly Garland Hotel located in North Hollywood. According to Benard's official website, the reason for the change was to provide attendees a "better," i.e. classier, forum to meet the Emmy winner. Contributed by LDB
As previously reported in Buzz, fans of Desperate Housewives' Jesse Metcalfe (ex-Miguel, Passions) should be on high alert this weekend. John Tucker Must Die, which features Metcalfe in the role of a despised player whose cheating impulses have several of his ex-galpals out for blood, bows in theaters on Friday, July 28th. The flick also stars another soap alum: Brittany Snow (ex-Susan, Guiding Light). John Tucker Must Die is directed by Betty Thomas who was also at the helm for such hits as 28 Days, The Brady Bunch Movie and Private Parts. Contributed by LDB
In more Desperate Housewives Buzz, we guess being snubbed at this year's upcoming Emmys has ignited a fire inside the belly of Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. He is quoted in TV Guide as saying a huge climax is a brewing for the women dwelling on Wisteria Line. The likes of which viewers have never seen. "(We're) building up to a huge hostage situation in a supermarket," he told the magazine about the series third season. The publication also reports that a leading character will be murdered. There go the pink slips! Contributed by LDB

In “Off Their Rockers,” the three ladies who occupy these rockers share their lives, their joys, their fears, their hopes, their dreams and the many problems that complicate their days and nights. Some fans have already mounted video tributes to ATWT's Benjamin Hendrickson (Hal). According to Soapdom's contributor, CL, "I've been so sad with the loss of Ben H. but saw this link today, and just wanted to pass it along." You Tube
James Scott (EJ) of Days of our Lives talked to Buzz about living in Hollywood, and not having a significant other. "You know I'm really a home body. I have a home in the hills and just enjoy the peace and quiet," he said. "I live with my dog, Eva. And as for the Hollywood life, my managers and publicist have to take me kicking to go to a premiere. I'm just shy and not into the Hollywood scene, and really just don't want to be." As for a significant other Scott said that at the moment "The answer is no." He's very content with his life and just enjoys being alone and doing the things he enjoys, like running, putting on his shorts and muddy sneakers. A far cry from the character of EJ. Attention all you divas and divettes! The word "dramaqueen" has officially made it into the newest edition of the Marriam Webster Dictionary. The definition? "A person given to often excessively emotional performances or reactions." Other new words of note include "himbo," derived from him and bimbo and means "an attractive but vacuous man;" and "bling," which is defined by Websters as "flashy jewelry worn especially as an indication of wealth; broadly : expensive and ostentatious possessions." Nice to see ole Webster is keeping up with the times. But for all us soap fans, we have known for a long time that the definition of dramaqueen has always just been AMC's Erica Kane! :o) Contributed by LMS

Another trusted media outlet is corraborating that the tragic death of ATWT's Benjamin Hendrickson was indeed a suicide. The Los Angeles Times, in it's Saturday, July 8th edition, states "Benjamin Hendrickson, 55, a Daytime Emmy award-winning actor on the soap, 'As the World Turns,' committed suicide this week with a gunshot to the head, police in Huntington, N.Y. said. Suffolk County police officers, called by concerned neighbors to Hendrickson's Long Island home, said they found him dead in his bed on Monday." Again, our hearts go out to all. Contributed by LMS

Soapdom has learned some sad, shocking and disheartening news regarding the sudden death of ATWT's Benjamin Hendrickson (Hal). CNN's ShowBiz Tonight reported on Thursday, July 6 Hendrickson committed suicide at his home in Huntington, Long Island, New York by putting a gun to his head. Although the reason for this despair is...
...unknown they reported that he had been despondent since the passing of his mother in 2003. The spokesperson for As the World Turns would not confirm or deny this report, and stated that their official position on Hendrickson's death was shared in the statement they made on Wednesday -- simply that he died at age 55. The spokesperson did add, however, that there were NO plans to recast the character at this time. Again, our sympathy goes out to Hendrickson's friends, family, fellow actors, show producers and crew. He and they are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Contributed by LMS
Pasions' McKenzie Westmore (Sheridan) is currently off the soap on maternity leave, and she's taking the opportunity to do a little home re-decorating. Westmore and husband Seven have been working with a little store in Venice, CA called Tara Home to select just the right pieces for home and lifestyle. At Tara Home, they believe that every piece of their collection "should evoke a passion and emotion, and inspire peace in the home." Westmore and Seven were featured on the local ABC affiliate in Los Angeles selecting certain items from the Tara Home store, saying how these pieces are unique and very special to them. While Westmore is on maternity leave from Passions, the role of Sheridan is being played by Kam Heskin. Contributed by LMS

Benjamin Hendrickson (Hal, ATWT) died suddenly over the weekend. The Emmy Award-winning actor, who had played Oakdale's Chief of Detectives on and off since 1985, was 55 years old. There have been some unsubstantiated rumors of a suicide. No official cause of death was announced. Click here for the full story. Contributed by LMS & LDB
In some AMC/ATWT buzz, Cady McClain (Dixie, AMC; ex Rosanna, ATWT) has confirmed in her official blog at CadyMcClain.com that her real-life boyfriend is former ATWT's co-star Hunt Block (ex Craig, ATWT). "YES, HB is my boyfriend," she blogs. "Sheesh! How embarrassing…but how lucky am I?" McClain's character, Rosanna, got hitched to Block's character, Craig, on ATWT, but alas and alack, their soap opera marriage was short lived. Contributed by LMS

Tons of feature films heading to your local cinemas this summer and a number of them are featuring former soap stars as major players. Parker Posey (Kitty Kowalski, "Superman Returns") got her feet wet in acting on "As the World Turns" when she played the character of Tess Shelby back in 1990-1991. Mark Derwin (who many remember as A.C. Mallet on "Guiding Light," 1990-1993; and Ben Davidson on "One Life to Live," 1991-2002 and again in 2004) stars as a voice of reason in this summer's quirky coming of age comedy, "Accepted." A film with a rather outlandish one-sheet (the poster features a sexy girl shown from behind wearing nothing but a bra and panties. Predominently displayed on the rump of said panties is the name of the film: "John Tucker Must Die") stars Jesse Metcalfe, the young sexy gardener from Desperate Housewives who got his start originating the role of Miguel on Passions (1999 - 2004). And let us not forget the Man of Steel himself, Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") who starred on One Life to Live as Seth back in 2001-2002. Contributed by LMS

There is good and bad news for fans of Tyler Christopher (Nikolas, General Hospital). Which would you like first? Okay, I'm just going to flip a coin. As it turns out, according to TVGuide.com, Secrets of a Small Town continues to be a favorite among ABC executives who have decided to extend its option on cast members. This would include Christopher, of course, but also Denise Richards, Angie Harmon and Sean Patrick Flanery. Translation: Viewers might still have an opportunity to get a glimpse of the show, perhaps as a midseason replacement? Nothing is official yet, so Christopher will remain in Port Charles for the foreseeable future. In fact, according to Tyler Christopher's official website, the actor has just signed a contract with General Hospital that will keep the character of Nikolas in Port Charles until May, 2007. The clan of the recently deceased mega-producer Aaron Spelling have enough sadness surrounding them without duking a long-standing family feud in the media. Allegedly, Tori (Donna, Beverly Hills 90210) and mom Candy Spelling have suffered a rift that began a little over a year ago. Although there are many speculations as to what fueled the falling out, one thing is clear: Both of Aaron's girls are steaming mad! In the latest round, Candy provided a statement to the New York Post in an effort to debunk Tori's tale that she learned of her father's death via email -- not family -- denying her a proper good-bye with father. Spelling's widow told the Post: "We are deeply saddened that, during this time of loss and grief, we are forced to respond to the media frenzy caused by [Tori's] mean-spirited and surprising comments. Aaron's legacy deserved pure and unadulterated tribute and recognition, which, sadly, has been tainted." Mom's take on why Tori opted to tell all: "Since [she] chose not to be [at Aaron's bedside], we believe she is having a hard time dealing with that loss." Contributed by LDB
