The Bold and the Beautiful has announced that the date for the 2007 edition of the world-wide gathering of the fans of the series is August 25, 2007, in Los Angeles. Since the series is celebrating its 20th year of broadcasting this year, Executive Producer, Bradley P. Bell and Fan Club President, Cathy Tomas, are eager to give fans coming from all over the world the opportunity to plan their trip ahead of time.  Those who would like to attend should watch for updates and specific registration details to be announced on the web at http://www.boldandbeautiful.com.  Fans may also send an email request to Cathy at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Cady McClain (Dixie, AMC)AMC's Cady McClain speaks out regarding her termination as Dixie on All My Children .  Although she is able to make a joke or two,  we think that she is biting her tongue as to her real feelings regarding the rather abrupt dismissal and total demise of a character that AMC fans have loved for years.  Contributed by LMS

Interesting numbers from E! Online regarding Guiding Light:  70—number of years Guiding Light has been on the air in some form, securing it the Guinness World Record for being the longest-running show in broadcast history. 1937—the year the show debuted on radio. 1952—the year the show transitioned to television. 15,094—the number of Guiding Light episodes that have aired on television as of Thursday. 17,555—the number of episodes that have aired overall. Brian Gaskill is joining Guiding Light in the role of Dylan Lewis-- son of Reva (Kim Zimmer)and Billy (Jordan Clarke).  He begins airing in March reports TVGuide.com.  Ironically, Gaskill's last daytime gig was at another P&G soap: As The World Turns where he played BJ Green in 2005.  Gaskill is now an official member of an elite league of daytimers known as "soap hoppers" with a history that dates back to All My Children (Bobby Warner; 1995-'97), Port Charles (Rafe Kovitch; 2001-2003) and The Bold and the Beautiful (Oscar Marone; 2003-2004). Jacob Young (JR, AMC)Jacob Young (JR, AMC) hosts an exclusive event and raffle at World of Disney’s 5th Avenue Flagship Store (711 Fifth Avenue at 55th Street in New York City) from 11 AM to 2 PM to help raise awareness and funds to support the Sunday, February 25 “ABC Daytime Salutes Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS” concert at Town Hall in New York City.  A raffle of rare and unique Disney items including signed posters from the Broadway companies of Disney’s “Tarzan” and “Mary Poppins, The new musical” and a limited edition Waterford Tinkerbell figurine will be featured in the event that will also include autograph signings by Mr. Young and his fellow “All My Children” co-stars Melisa Claire Egan (Annie), Jeff Branson (Jonathan) and Chrishell Stause (Amanda) and Kristen Alderson (Starr) of “One Life to Live” who will also perform a number from the Disney songbook.  This event is the first of several on-site and online auctions leading up to the annual “ABC Daytime Salutes BC/EFA” concert and is the latest example of the Walt Disney Corporation and ABC Television Network’s long standing commitment to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Through this and other events, they have raised awareness and substantial funds helping BC/EFA help those in need. Congrats to Passions' Daphnee Duplaix Samuel (Valerie) and her husband Ron who proudly announce the birth of their third son.  Jaxson Ronald Samuel was born January 15th in Los Angeles.  He measured 21 inches and weighed 7.5 pounds.

Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles. Arrivals start at 10:30 a.m. with an 11:00 a.m. start time.  As Darlene loved her fans, and always reached out to them, the Funeral will be open to the public. Speaking of soap stars with musical talent, OLTL's Kassie dePaiva (Blair) has been busy in the recording studio working on her third cd.  A follow up to "Naked" and "No Regrets," this one titled "I Want to Love You" is due out this Spring. "2007 will bring new music to your ears," says dePaiva. "Due out this spring is my new CD called "I Want to Love You."  It's a bluegrassy-feeling CD including 14 songs and many of the songs will be featured on OLTL.  So let me know what you think and tell your friends to be on the look out. Las Vegas beauty Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda, General Hospital) enjoyed a very special New Year's Eve: Boyfriend Ben Younger proposed marriage, and reportedly, Marcil accepted.  The duo have been a couple for quite some time and when Soapdom spoke with Marcil earlier last year it was obvious that Younger had stolen her heart.  "Ben and I are buying an apartment in the city (this summer)," she excitedly informed Soapdom.  "He is honestly the most patient person you will ever meet and he is a wonderful writer/director... not to mention a full-blown New Yorker which I adore because I've always felt like New York was home to me."  Marcil was previously engaged to former costars Tyler Christopher (Nikolas, GH) and Brian A. Green (David, Beverly Hills, 90210) with whom she shares a son Kassius, nearly 5-years-old.  Congratulations to Marcil and Younger. Contributed by LDB

James Reynolds (Abe, DOOL)James Reynolds (Abe, DOOL) will be the featured celebrity speaker at the Installation Ceremony for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Bust on January 19, 2007 at the Ahearn Field House at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Kansas State University was the last university at which Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke before his demise in 1969. The theme of the week-long activities is “Marching Toward a Just Society.” Reynolds, born in Oskaloosa, Kansas, attended Washburn University in Topeka.  Contributed by LMS

The MS Society Petition 2007 Days of our Lives Martha Madison (Belle) is a major supporter of The MS Society.  According to Madison, The MS Society is putting together a petition to help raise more Federal Funding for MS Research. "The Narional MS Society and it's supporters are very concerned by the trend developing of less and less federal support for MS-related research," Madison tells Soapdom.  "This petition is an effort to secure what we expect will be several hundred thousand signatures in support of increased funding for MS research.  Th NMSS wants to take this petition to the Hill when their delegates visit their legislators in March to help them better understand that MS is a significant health issue.  It takes less than two minutes to join the movement and sign this petition, and in doing so, (you) may be helping hundreds of thousands of Americans suffering from MS." While over at CBS daytime, more congrats are in order.  Y&R Sustains as Top Rated Daytime Drama for 18 Years and Counting!  “The Young and the Restless” reached 938 consecutive weeks as the #1 rated daytime drama series against regular scheduled programming, according to Nielsen ratings for the week ending December 22, 2006.  The streak began more than 18 years ago in December 1988. Y&R reached the 18 year milestone the week ending December 10, which was week 12 of the 2006-2007 television season.  Contributed by LMS

Freddie Smith Puts Mark On Character

As an openly gay character, Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) of Days of our Lives loves the challenge of "capturing the character."

"I do! It's exciting to be able to play this role. This is a big hot topic (being gay) in today's society,"  Smith said. "By portraying this character, I feel like I am making an impact on society, and be able to shed light on something that many people have a fear of."

This week Smith along with Chandler Massey (Will) have shared their first on air kiss. "This role gives me the opportunity to share the variety of experiences of what it is like to be gay," Smith said. "It's like do I come out? Do I stay in? This is about showing two sides."
