Tamara Braun (ex Carly, GH) returns to her role as Rose on the sitcom FREDDIE in an episode called "The Two That Got Away." Here's how it plays out:  Freddie feels like he made a mistake when he stopped seeing Denise (Denise Qui-ones) the first time, so he agrees to drive Grandma to church, hoping to run into her for a second chance. When Denise tells him that she's seeing someone else, Freddie realizes he's going to have to work to win her back. Meanwhile Rose (Tamara Braun) is back in town, and when Chris reveals Freddie's true feelings for her, she feels the same. Now Freddie is torn between two wonderful women -- but which one will he choose?  The episode airs February 15th.  (Contributed by LDB)

Rob Gorrie, an 18-year-old West Warwick, NJ native, was introduced to the nation on Friday as Nathan Bradley, a new character on "As the World Turns." According to Gorrie, the character of Nathan Bradley is "an all-American boy." He is a Harvard-bound, student council president and captain of the chess team. His role is to create friction between two existing characters on the soap - Maddie (Alexandra Chando) and Casey (Zach Roeriq). In his first appearance on Friday's episode, Bradley (Gorrie) did just that. "On Friday, they basically introduced my character to the viewers but I have bigger parts this week," Gorrie said. A student at NYU, Gorrie is studying communications at the Steinhardt School. He and his college cronies crowded around a TV on campus last Friday to watch his first ATWT episode. "I've seen myself on video before but to be on national television, that was quite an experience," Gorrie said. "It seemed almost surreal." The young actor is ready to juggle both his college education and his role as Nathan. "Acting is my passion and I would love to do more of it, but I will always keep my foot in the door when it comes to my education," Gorrie said. "I know it will be difficult to start my career while I am still in school but, for now, I am managing." This being his first real on-screen role, Gorrie said, it should be the "springboard for something even greater to come of it.I know that there is no guarantee in this business, but there is a comforting factor that comes with landing this role that lets me know that all that hard work I put in wasn't for nothing," Gorrie said. "I feel like I've made it, even if it is temporary, but that makes it even more motivating to get out there and try and book another show." The role of Nathan is recurring, but you can watch for him this week and again in February.  (Contributed by CL)

General Hospital is pushing its wicked viral storyline full steam ahead, snagging high-profile spots in mainstream publications.  This Soapdom editor happened to be flipping through next week's issue of US Weekly and there, smuggled in between the magazine's table of contents, lay a full page ad reading: "A Deadly Virus. A Town Quarantined And The One Person Who Can Save Them... Won't."   With the smiling faces of Luke, Sonny, Carly, Nikolas, Emily, Jason and Sam placed directly underneath the shadow of an ominous figure looming in the background, one can't help but comment on how "killer" the glossy looks. ABC Daytime Lends a Helping Hand to the City of New Orleans   In an effort to boost tourism and generate revenue for the city of New Orleans, ABC Daytime will participate in this year's Mardi Gras - the first of the city's annual celebrations since the devastation from Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.  During Mardi Gras weekend, ABC Daytime will be featured on a float in the "Morpheus Krewe" parade, taking place on Friday, February 24 at 7:15 PM (the parade route will travel down St. Charles Avenue and up Canal Street).  On Saturday, February 25, ABC Daytime will kick off the new Fun in the Sun tour with a fan event taking place in the French Quarter's Jackson Square from noon til 3 PM. Rounding out the weekend, ABC Daytime will host a private visit to the New Orleans Children's Hospital, bringing Mardi Gras celebrations to all its patients.  All of these efforts are expected to raise national awareness for ongoing relief and to bring much needed business back to New Orleans.  "This is a significant event because ABC and their Daytime stars are giving the tourism industry of New Orleans a vote of confidence," said Kim Priez, vice president of the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Mardi Gras is a celebration of the human spirit, and it is a vital economic engine, generating millions in direct tax revenues to our city, paying for services necessary for recovery and bringing displaced residents back home.  We are excited for ABC to participate in the 150th Anniversary celebration of Mardi Gras and to bring the event to viewers nationwide.  We appreciate ABC Daytime's efforts and leadership in supporting New Orleans recovery."  ABC Daytime will provide additional awareness for continuous support to New Orleans by presenting a fictional depiction of a Mardi Gras ball, hosted by AMC's Erica Kane (Susan Lucci).  This fictional ball will serve as a real-life fundraiser for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which assists victims of thousands of disasters across the country, including the continuing relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina victims.  This effort will be integrated into the storyline, with Erica and the other residents of Pine Valley addressing her "New Beginnings" television audience, as well as AMC's real-life audience, giving information on how they can make donations during the airing of these interactive episodes.  Those fans who make donations by February 12 will receive a thank you phone message from Susan Lucci.  "We recognize the need for assistance in the ongoing recovery of New Orleans and have the ability and desire to provide our help," said Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime.  The weekend will feature appearances from AMC's Cady McClain (Dixie), Cameron Mathison (Ryan), Jacob Young (JR) and Alexa Havins; OLTL's Robin Strasser (Dorian), Kamar de los Reyes (Antonio), and Renee Goldsberry; and, GH's Kelly Monaco (Sam), Greg Vaughan (Lucky) and Ted King (Lorenzo Alcazar).   (Contributed by LMS)

The only problem is that the animal is infected with a deadly virus which it spreads to several of PC's residents including Dr. Tony Jones, Sonny Corinthos and LuLu Spencer. hspace=10 src=In a real-life shocker, two of soapdom's long time sweethearts, Catherine Hickland  (Lindsay, OLTL) and Michael E. Knight (Tad, AMC) are allegedly calling it quits!  Shown here in a scene from OLTL's Fan February episode in 2003 where Tad ventured to Llanview and danced with Lindsay, Knight and Hickland decided to separate after 14 years of marriage, but it was a heartbreaking decision for both of them. In 1998, Knight told SOD: "As lucky as I am in my career, I have to knock wood about my marriage, because I'm so very, very lucky."  In 1993, Hickland told SOD, "Deep down, I knew right away that Michael was the one. I've never known anybody like him. He's so easy to live with and hysterically funny."  On Hickland's prior marriage to David Hasselhoff, who played the character Michael Knight in the primetimer, Knight Rider, Knight quipped to Soapdom: "She just married the wrong Michael Knight the first time."  According to our sources, Hickland and Knight are going to remain friends, but this is a difficult time for both of them right now. As reported in Soapdom casting, All My Children has pulled a coup in tapping Broadway's "Jersey Boys" Christian Hoff in the recurring role of Marty, a Zach Slater casino henchman.  Of his dual acting responsibilites, Hoff told Soapdom, "Taping AMC has been worked around my 'Jersey Boys' eight-show-a-week performance schedule with great skill and consideration by the AMC team. I am so excited to be a part of their award winning show. "  How did Hoff  -- a Broadway show star -- land the role on AMC?  "After seeing my performance as Tommy DeVito in JB, Emmy Award winning casting director Judy Wilson called me with a character in mind. I tested for the role and afterward she shared a knowing look with her assistant and said 'Well, it only takes one.' Juggling the daytime soap and the unwavering Broadway show schedule is great for keeping my edge. One of the fans of the show said to me 'I guess too much work becomes you.' Who am I to argue with them?"  Stay tuned to Soapdom for our exclusive interview with Hoff coming soon.  (Contributed by LMS)

hspace=10 src=Soapdom has learned that Days of our Lives' Arianne Zuker (Nicole) has given notice to the show.  She had been working for some time without a contract and finally choose to leave Salem behind to branch out and pursue other interests. Her last airdate is February 10.  She follows in the footsteps of her husband, Kyle Lowder, who left Days and the role of Brady behind several months ago. Soapdom wishes both Zuker and Lowder the best in their future endeavors. It is not known at this time if the role of Nicole will be recast. (Contributed by LMS)

Buzz is building that the headwriter at one soap might soon be searching for a new job.  Apparently, the show runner is less than happy with the current storyline direction, and is preparing an apprentice to take over the writing reins. In a typical soap turn of events, however, the person now manning the head writing duties may actually be pleased, as according to the Buzz, said scribe has already made plans to walk.  (Contributed by CL)

With the storyline for young Luke on As the World Turns about to become majorly frontburner, fans are speculating that a return of Luke's biological dad, Damian, may not be far off.  Paolo Seganti, the fan favorate who played the role in the past, is more than open to the idea of a return. Seganti told TVGOnline, "I was just talking to Martha [Byrne, Lily] and she wants me to go back on the show," he said. "I miss New York, and I'd love to go back, but we're just talking. It's not my decision. It depends on the fans and the producers."   (Contributed by CL)

hspace=10 src=Robert Scorpio is on his way back to General Hospital for a brief return during February sweeps.  Soap Opera Digest confirms the news in this week's issue in which the publication speaks directly to the soap's Head Writer Charles Pratt and Scorpio's portrayer, Tristan Rogers. "With the surprise hit of Noah Drake (Rick Springfield) returning, we're enjoying expanding our canvas with actors who are connected to the show," Pratt is quoted as saying in Digest.   hspace=5 src="I don't have too much to tell you," Rogers explains of his six week return.  "To be honest, they've only given me a parking space and a dressing room, and that's as much as I've been told.  In the last 13 years, this is a rumor which has surfaced like clockwork.  The first words to my manager were, 'Stop wasting my time!' My manager said, 'It's for real.  They want to do it.'"  The big question that viewer will wait to have explained is Scorpio's alleged death following a boat explosion in 1992.  The character even returned as an apparition in 1995 during daughter Robin's (Kimberly McCullough) AIDS trauma.  Was she simply daydreaming?  Stay tuned!  (Contributed by LDB)

Bummer.  (Contributed by LDB)

Passions Justin Hartley (Fox) makes his last appearance in Harmony on February 10.  The role has been recast by newcomer Mark Cameron Wystrach who will first appear on air on Valentine's Day. In more Passions Buzz, Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald fans listen up.  Your favorite character is about to return, although there is no word of his first airdate.  The role was vacated by Jesse Metcalfe in 2004 who has made quite the subsequent splash as the hunky gardner on Desperate Housewives.  The newcomer taking over the role is Adrian Bellani.  Just how will the return of Miguel impact the rest of the denizens of Harmony? Stay tuned. (Contributed by LDB, MEW & LMS)

Freddie Smith Puts Mark On Character

As an openly gay character, Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) of Days of our Lives loves the challenge of "capturing the character."

"I do! It's exciting to be able to play this role. This is a big hot topic (being gay) in today's society,"  Smith said. "By portraying this character, I feel like I am making an impact on society, and be able to shed light on something that many people have a fear of."

This week Smith along with Chandler Massey (Will) have shared their first on air kiss. "This role gives me the opportunity to share the variety of experiences of what it is like to be gay," Smith said. "It's like do I come out? Do I stay in? This is about showing two sides."
