Several weeks ago we told you about the generosity of The Bold and the Beautiful. The soap donated 35 haute couture evening and wedding gowns to an eBay auction to raise money benefiting the City of Hope. On April 2, 2005 stars from B&B came out to support the event, The City of Hope Award of Hope Gala 2005, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Maeve Quinlan (Megan), Kayla Ewell (Caitlin), Winsor Harmon (Thorne), Dan McVicar (Clarke), Adrienne Frantz (Amber), Ashley Jones (Bridget), Jack Wagner (Nick) and Lorenzo Lamas (Hector) with his lovely fiancee, former National Ballroom Dance Champion, Barbara Moore, were on hand. Also in attendance was Daytime Emmy Award winning Birgit Muller, Costume Designer of B&B, along with sister soap Y&R's Lauralee Bell (Christine). (Contributed by LMS)
According to Michael Starr of the NY Post, Eileen Fulton (Lisa, ATWT), is not only celebrating 45 years on the soap this year, she has a new guy in her life. Is she cheating on her family? Nope, not in the least. She's a volunteer for Soldier's Angels, an organization that encourages civilians stateside to "adopt" soldiers fighting overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. Fulton is writing letters and sending care packages to cheer up the soldier adoptee. Wonder if he's a fan of ATWT? Wouldn't that be a swell touch of home for him? The event takes place during a 40th anniversary celebration at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 80 Columbus Circle at 60th Street in NYC. Frons is being honored along with 39 other successful and distinguished alumni. Will ABC daytime illuminaries come out to cheer him on? Hey, NYC ABC fans! In B&B Buzz, after extensive casting in both Los Angeles and New York for Ciro Moriello and Jonathan Rola’s feature film, “Sons of Italy," Sean Kanan (Deacon, B&B) has been cast in the lead role. Kanan will play the role of Michele Morri, an Italian native in this romantic tragedy that unfolds against the backdrop of a real life terrorist attack that took place on an Italian merchant marine vessel off the Coast of Algeria in the mid 1990s. Shooting is scheduled to begin in early May of 2005 on the Isle of Capri and on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Kanan recently completed a starring role in “Carpool Guy," the film that marks the theatrical directorial debut of Corbin Bernsen (Durant, GH). (Contributed by LMS)

Congratulations to All My Children for winning the Entertainment Industries Council PRISM Award for Television Daytime Drama Multi-Episode Story Line for the episode titled: "Erica's Intervention." AMC star Eden Riegel (ex Bianca), accepted the award at the 9th annual PRISM award ceremony held in Beverly Hills, CA on Thursday, April 28, 2005. The PRISM Award honors those show's which best exemplify the accurage depiction of drug, alcohol, tobacco use and addiction. "Erica's Intervention" depicted how Emmy-Award winning actress Susan Lucci's character, Erica Kane, deals with alcohol addiction. After the death of her daughter's baby, and the death of the baby's father, Erica, who has a history of pill addiction, turned to alcohol to escape her pain. In a series of emotional episodes, Erica's family rallies around her, leading to an intervention. With her families' suport, Erica realizes her problem and eventually gets the help she needs. In Passions Buzz, the show is currently on location in Las Vegas taping scenes for an upcoming storyline. In the NBC small world department, Soapdom has learned that a star from NBC's primetime show, Las Vegas, will guest star on Passions as part of this storyline! Talk about crossover! (Contributed by LMS)
In ATWT news, the net is buzzing about Kin Shriner (Keith). I just made the message board rounds. I tell you the fans are loving Keith/Kin, they really enjoyed his kissing scene with Lily. They've repeated his words and actions of the scenes, labeling him quite a man in a little boy way. They're hoping his character is here to stay and that he isn't the bad guy, the way the writers seem to be going. They have titled the couple "Killy." (Contributed by CL)

On a sad note, condolences go out to Juliet Mills (Tabitha, Passions) on the passing of her dad, Oscar-winning British actor Sir John Mills. He was 97 years-old. Mills was not only a great performer, but great man that will be missed. (Contributed by MEW)
In B&B Buzz, a source close to the set tells Soapdom that Shanelle Workman (Gaby) is dating Constantine from American Idol! Pretty juicy! (Contributed by KS)
It's official. Eva La Rue (Maria, AMC) has announced on her official message board that she will be leaving All My Children. She does not say when her last airdate will be, but does say that AMC will always be her second home. "When I miss Pine Valley, all I have to do is close my eyes, click my heels three times and say, 'there's no place like home.'" Her reasons for leaving the show are personal, citing her family in LA has been calling to her to return for some time. Looks like now's the time. Read her post. (Contributed by LMS)

In ATWT Buzz, the rumor mill at the fan lunch was in high gear. At yesterday's SOD chat someone asked the following question: "Any Truth to the rumor that Lisa is going to be a Great Grandmother. This was heard at the Luncheon!" The SOD editor replied that Tom/Margo have more romance and a goofy date coming soon. They'll also have trouble with Casey. That whole condo brouhaha was just the beginning. My thoughts: Casey will become involved with Gwen. (Contributed by CL)
In more ATWT Buzz, get up close and personal with Martha Byrne (Lily) and her real-life family as she shares the story of her early beginnings in the entertainment industry and how the need to be close to her family made her leave the bright lights of Hollywood behind, thanks to the help of a friendly priest and a stain-glassed window that reminded her of her church back home. Read it. (Contributed by CL & LMS)
Plus, Scott Holroyd (ex Paul, ATWT) could be back on the air before we know it. It is reported that he has joined the cast of a comedy pilot called Queen B. It's about a narcissistic woman (Alicia Silverstone) who used her manipulation skills to become the most popular girl in high school but now finds it harder to use those unlikable traits to her advantage in her late 20s. Holroyd is set to play a love interest for Bea (Silverstone's character) in the 20th Century Fox Television/Imagine Television-based project, which is executive produced by Jennifer Crittenden, David Nevins and Brian Grazer with Silverstone and Carolyn Kessler serving as co-executive producers. In Passions Buzz, congratulations to Rodney Van Johnson (TC Russell) and Carmen Obando on the birth of their second child, a boy, Alexis Antonio Benjamin Obando Van Johnson, born on April 9, 2005 in Los Angeles, CA. (Contributed by LMS)
ATWT held its Fan Club luncheon in NYC this past weekend. Buzz is it was disappointing. Half the amount of fans (that's not a good sign) showed up, and only 17 actors, mostly the younger ones, were on hand when there was a tentative list of 23. Of course, Martha Byrne (Lily) was there with bells on. She also revealed that Lily will be kissing Keith in the near future. Has the Lily/Holden pairing run its course? Jessica Dunphy (Alison) told the fans she will be leaving comes June and did find the ending scenes with Agim Kaba (Aaron) very hard to do. Anthony Herrera (Stenbeck) said he will be back, but not in scenes with Paul. And would you believe that Cady McClain (Rosanna) is going on recurring status at her request to be free for whatever. Additionally, McClain shared a scoop on her storyline. Rosanna will be back to Oakdale, but without Cabot. She puts the child someplace for safe keeping. She tries to explain to Paul, and win him back, but he will have no part of it. Could be that Paul and Rosanna are doomed. The only actor representing the Hughes family was the cute kid that plays Casey, Zach Roerig. How sad is that. Where were all the other Hughes family members? Speaking of the younger, newer cast members, no one went up to talk to the young girl that plays Celia, Alyssa Diaz. Internet Buzz is that the fans really cannot stand actress or character, and they can be very mean and rude at times, as was displayed in Diaz's case by the blatant snub at the fan lunch. Speaking of rude, Grayson McCouch (Dusty) came in ten minutes before the event ended. Seems he had a few drinks too many and created quite a scene. Not knowing that the president of the fan-club had just announced the luncheon was over and everyone had to clear the room, McCouch kept asking the fans why they were leaving. He thought that was rude, since he just got there. Um, isn’t rude showing up ten minutes before the event ends? In addition to the above, here's everyone else who showed: Elizabeth Hubberd (Lucinda), Marie Masters (Susan), Michael Park (Jack), Maura West (Carly), Jon Hensley (Holden), Mark Collier (Mike), Jennifer Ferrin (Jennifer), Jesse Soffer (Will), Dylan Denton (JJ), Jake Weary (Luke), Trent Dawson (Henry) and Terri Colombino (Katie). In Passions Buzz, the show announced yesterday that a new actor, Dylan Fergus, has been cast in the contract role of Ned who we first see in scenes that take place in Las Vegas. Fergus has a list of previous credits that include JAG, What I Like About You, and AMC. However, what Passions neglected to mention, is that this Carnegie Mellon School of Drama graduate also stars in the first ever gay/slasher movie, called "Hellbent," which was released in 2004. According to MSN Movies: "'Hellbent' ... follows five gay men fighting to stay alive at one of the most outrageous celebrations of the year -- Halloween night in West Hollywood. We follow the men through a night where flamboyant costumes, beautiful people, drugs, music, dancing and sex are everywhere. The authentic footage that the filmmakers acquired during Halloween Carnival lets filmgoers experience West Hollywood on its most exciting night of the year." In GL Buzz, Crystal Hunt is Ready for Her Close-Up. The Daytime Emmy-Nominated young actress is set to star in the feature film, The Derby Stallion. Best known to television audiences as evil teen Lizzie Spaulding on the popular CBS soap opera Guiding Light, Crystal Hunt brings her talent to the big screen in the upcoming film The Derby Stallion. Hunt portrays Jill, a tomboy with an interest in romance, in this heart-warming family drama about a teenage boy who overcomes odds to become a winning jockey at a prestigious steeplechase race.
Joining Hunt in The Derby Stallion are former Guiding Light and One Life to Live star Tonja Walker, who is also the film’s co-producer; Summerland’s Zac Efron; Hope Floats' Bill Cobbs; and, Falcon Crest’s Billy Moses. The talented cast also includes Billy Preston, Colton James, and Michael Nardelli. Produced by Tonja Walker Productions and Scorpio Pictures, the film is being shot on location at Bouckaert Farm, Barnsley Gardens and Kingston Downs, home of the Atlanta Steeplechase for the past 12 years.
“I am so thrilled to be reunited with Tonja Walker,” Hunt says of her upcoming film adventure. “We worked together on Guiding Light when I first joined the show in 2003. It’s a real treat to be working with her again.”
Hunt has delighted Guiding Light fans with her portrayal of evil teen Lizzie Spaulding since her debut on the popular CBS soap opera in 2003. An instant favorite with fans and critics, she recently received her first Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Younger Actress category. Hunt's film credits include From Earth to the Moon directed by Tom Hanks, Problem Child II, and Homeless Children. While over at OLTL, Michael Bruno, a manager with many soap actors as clients, posted on his website last Friday that Melissa Archer (Natalie) was out and ABC was recasting the role. Other internet sources confirmed that she had been let go and casting would commence mid-week. Monday brings official news from ABC that ABC and Melissa are in "contract negotiations" and that she was not fired. Melissa's agent (Sheri) categorically denied the "firing" rumor and substantiated the ongoing "contract negotiations" ending that Melissa would love to stay in Llanview. Only time will tell if Monday's news is clarification or network spin. (Contributed by SS)
In more casting news, rumor has it that Passions is looking for a blond in her early 20's to play a character named Alicia who was born into money, has a clever sense of humor, but is less than obvious about her feelings. It's not clear who Alicia will be interacting with in Harmony, but the actors auditioning for the part will read with Fox. Guiding Light put the call out for an 18-year old guy. They are also seeking a college-aged woman with ties to Bill. Far as the continuing saga regarding the Joshua Madden character for AMC, this guy has little patience and is not afraid to go after what he wants when he wants it. He's got rugged good looks, and an outrageous sense of humor, and a definite way with the ladies. Looks like the summer is gonna really heat up. (Contributed by LMS)

TV Guide Online is reporting that As the World Turns has given head writer, Hogan Sheffer, his walking papers. As you all know, five-time Emmy nominee and three-time Emmy winner Sheffer recently took a 17-week sebatical from the show for undisclosed reasons. Buzz is that now the show has asked him NOT to come back. So far, there is no official comment from ATWT. Nothing unusual there. Typically shows do not comment on contract status for anyone. According to Hogan's rep, the conflict is contract-related as both sides are still far apart on the terms. However, the issue is far from a done deal either way. We should know more later today. We will stay on top of this story. (Contributed by JJ, MEW and LMS)

As reported last week, AMC was casting for a new character, someone they called Joshua Madden. There was rumor this AM that the casting call that went out for Joshua Madden was actually to recast the character of Bobby Warner. I don't know who they cast, but he's already been hired. But now, there may be a change to this. They are already taping Bobby in the opening credits, but a credible source from Soap Opera Digest, just said that Joshua was not a Bobby recast. Her first airdate is May 4th. But here's the thing. If a teenaged Amanda Dillon's on her way back to Pine Valley, can her dad Trevor and/or mom Janet be far behind? At the Anniversary Party celebrating AMC's 35th Anniversary, James Kiberd, who last played Trevor Dillon, is seen smoozing with LaLucci and other members of the cast. The GLAAD Awards were created to honor individuals and projects in the media and entertainment industries for their fair, accurate and inclusive representation of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, and the issues that affect their lives.
OLTL was honored with its second award for the realistic portrayal of a young college student, Mark (Matt Cavenaugh), coming out to his friends, and for Marcie Walsh's (Kathy Brier) brother Eric's (Bill Dawes) decision to marry his boyfriend. The show was first honored in 1993 for its homophobia storyline, which captured national headlines when it introduced the character of gay teen, Billy Douglas (played by then unknown Ryan Phillippe), and culminated with the emotional display of the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt.
"We are honored to receive this award from the GLAAD organization and would like to thank them for their continuing recognition of the medium," says Frank Valentini, the show's executive producer. "OLTL has always been a show at the forefront of exploring social issues. It's an extremely important part of our storytelling and will continue to be, as we tell thought-provoking stories."
Emmy Award-winning One Life to Live, created by Agnes Nixon, was launched July 15, 1968. Frank Valentini executive-produces. Dena Higley is headwriter. The popular drama consistently ranks among the top five in the key demographic of Women 18-49. One Life to Live airs MOnday-Friday (2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. (Contributed by LMS)

The Carly Conspiracy. There's tons of Buzz about the recast of the character of Carly on General Hospital. Some names that are being bandied about are Sarah Buxton (who just returned to B&B in the role of Morgan), and Jennifer Bransford. According to our GH insider, the role has indeed be recast, but no one knows who -- except for TV Guide. The story will be published in next week's issue. Until then, GH is not commenting on the rumors or hinting at who won the role. So, we'll all just have to wait and see what TV Guide says next week, as they have negotiated an "exclusive" on this breaking story. Tamara Braun exits the role in mid April. (Contributed by LMS)

In DOOL Buzz, villian Sami Brady to be played by actor Dan Wells while star Alison Sweeney takes maternity leave. When Alison Sweeney, who has played 'Sami Brady' for 12 years on NBC's "Day of our Lives," announced her pregnancy last June, fans began to wonder how the show would handle her maternity leave. On February 28, 2005 they found out that head writer James E. Reilly had created Sami's best scheme yet.
Instead of recasting the role while Sweeney is on maternity leave from the show, actor Dan Wells will play 'Sami' in disguise, aka 'Stan.' The costume will help 'Sami' gather information to blackmail her enemies as she seeks her revenge. Through the magic of pre-taping and voiceovers, Sweeney will remain on the canvas throughout her maternity leave. In some scenes the illusion of the disguise is kept by dubbing over Wells' lines with Sweeney's voice.
Sweeney, married to California Highway Patrol officer David Sanov, gave birth to her first child, Benjamin Edward, on Friday, February 25. Days celebrates its 40th Anniversary in November 2005. (Contributed by LMS)
