JAMES REYNOLDS STARS IN “I
, TOO, AM AMERICA” AT FREMONT CENTRE THEATRE FOR LIMITED RUN BEGINNING
MAY 5; SHARES THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN EXPERIENCE
James Reynolds has long enjoyed a national fan following for his
portrayal of Police Commissioner Abe Carver on the daytime TV drama
“Days Of Our Lives.” Midway through his twenty-five-year span on that
show, he spent a season starring in the groundbreaking daytime serial
“Generations” portraying Henry Marshall. Both roles earned him Emmy®
nominations. He is also one of the artistic directors of Fremont Centre
Theatre in South Pasadena, where his show “I, Too, Am America” will be
performed. He created the show 20 years ago and has often toured
with it throughout the years. Reynolds portrays more than 20 different
characters including Paul Robeson, Sojourner Truth, Deadwood
Dick, and his own family members. He describes the show as “an evening
of sharing the experiences, thoughts, and feelings throughout history
as seen through the eyes of musicians, historians, ex-slaves, poets,
artists, teachers, and others who have contributed to the vastness of
the African-American experience.” After each performance, Mr. Reynolds
will answer questions from the audience. James Reynolds is the
recipient of numerous accolades, including NAACP Image Award
nominations for his television work, numerous stage awards, and a
designation as a Great Kansan by the Kansas State Historical Society.
Anyone interested in America and a story as exciting as America itself
will enjoy “I, Too, Am America.” It’s been 4 years since the show was
last performed in Los Angeles. Don’t miss it. The play will be
performed at the Fremont Centre Theatre in South Pasadena, CA, May 5 to
June 2, 2007. For tickets call (866) 811-4111 or visit www.fremontcentretheatre.com . Contributed by LMS

Rumors are circulating that As the
World Turns is about to make some major casting changes. Buzz is
that the character of Craig is getting a new face. Apparently,
the actor who originated the role, namely Scott Bryce, has been tapped
to take on the character once again. If that's the case, what's
to happen to Jeffrey Meek? Although we cannot confirm it at this
moment, Craig's alleged last tape day was last Friday. Our question is,
could this possibly be true? Stay tuned to Soapdom as we stay on
top of this breaking story. Contributed by LMS
The Young and the Restless loses ground down under. In at least one
Australian market, Melbourne, The Young and the Restless is being
bumped off the air in favor of something different. After two
decades, The Nine Network is replacing Y&R with daytime talkshow
fabfest, a la The View. According the "The Age," a Melbourne
publication, "Nine decided this year to end its 20-year relationship
with American soap The Young and the Restless and try something new in
its timeslot." Contributed by LMS

"I
got my Digest early this week," Soapdom's Laura DeBrizzi informed
us. Here is her recap of what's hot in Digest. Be sure to pick up
your copy at the newsstands.
"The
Cover is a total DAYS mishmash that talks about Kayla (Mary Beth Evans)
taking out John's (Drake Hogestyn) kidney (OK?) and Mimi (Farah Fath)
being identified as the killer of her evil dad (William
Bumiller). The actions of that night will be told in newly taped
flashbacks. Ironically, Judi Evans who joins Fath in fleeing Salem as
Bonnie will be taking only a mini-break from the NBC sudser as plans
are more than underway for a return as her former character, Adrienne
Kiriakis, a role she assumed from 1986 thru 1991. Odd. I thought
for sure when Hogan Sheffer came aboard we would be rid of this kind of
far-fetched drama. While there is no official confirmation from the
show, it appears to be a done deal: "It sounds like a really good idea
to me. It has to work with Patch's (Stephen Nichols) story.
Let's just wait and see," comments Executive Producer Ken Corday to the
magazine. Also, Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Belle (Martha Madison)
finally kiss on whatever island it is that they're stranded on.
"In
some General Hospital Buzz, I knew this guy was going to stick
around: Sebastian Roche (James Craig) will continue to lurk about
Port Charles in to the foreseeable future. This makes sense being
that he was witty and quite charming during the entire hostage fiasco
... and, of course, there is the fact that Sonny and Jason never
actually exterminate their enemies. Too busy shucking coffee
beans, I guess. Oh and Jason Gerhardt (Cooper) is on contract
status. He was number three during the during the Metro Court
break-in. I guess it pays to be a nice - and hot -guy cooped up
in a vault with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). I would assume this
is going to be her new man. The Metro Court saga paid off for
GH--- it saw its ratings increase to a healthy 3.0, safely awarding it
a firm grip on 3rd place. "There's also a nice feature with Jeff
Meek (Craig, As The World Turns)
"For Y&R Fans,
Victoria Rowell (Dru, The Young And The Restless) reveals that her
character is no longer involved in scenes with Michelle Stafford's
Phyllis because of a request put in by another actor who she refuses to
name. Rowell admits to being pretty disappointed because she felt
that Dru and Phyllis had the potential to become one of the best duos
in daytime. Rowell goes on to say that her recent pre-Emmy nomination
snub is not the impetus for her moving on from the show, although she
does believe that her story did indeed carry Y&R this year and she
had more than her fair share of episodes to be considered Emmy worthy.
"In
some AMC Buzz, Cady McClain (ex-Dixie) is still whining about the
cathartic and polarizing blog she posted on her official website
www.cadymcclain.com two weeks prior. In the tirade, the Emmy winner
expressed quite matter-of-factly her displeasure over the direction All
My Children was headed, not to mention the inability of its writers to
create compelling story for Dixie. I say shut up, date Hunt Block
and go back to living the life of a bohemian.
"Here's another juicy tidbit, but not from Digest:
"Tyler
Christopher (Nikolas, General Hospital) seems to have found a home away
from Port Charles where his talents continue to be favored by
critics. Starring as Max in the 68 Center Crew Theatre Company's
production of Bent at Theatre 68 - 5419 Sunset Boulevard, Suite D; Los
Angeles, California - the actor has received phenomenal reviews from
one of the most prestigious publications. Backstage writer Les
Spindle piles praise on Christopher's acting choices throughout the
review, saying: "As a character who at first seems to react stoically
to having killed his own lover, Christopher fashions a finely nuanced
portrayal of a man whose need for affection runs deep. Beyond Max's
courageous façade is fear and despair—brilliantly conveyed in
Christopher's poignant and indelible characterization."Performances run
through March 4th. For ticket information, call: 323 960

NY Daily News reports that the soon-to-be-ex Young &
Restless star, Victoria Rowell (Dru), has gotten awfully cozy with
Oscar winner Jamie Foxx. According to the paper, spies report
that the two were behaving like more than just friends at the Belvedere
vodka party at the Empire Ballroom in Las Vegas. A few kisses and
some tender embraces are said to have been exchanged by Rowell and
Foxx. Contributed by LDBFebruary 21, 2007

SOAPDOM BLIND ITEM: Things are getting very hot on one New York produced soap. It seems that an executive producer was seen fraternizing with one of the starlets on the show when they were seen together at a Rick Springfield concert at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square, Friday night, February 16. The two in question were getting quite cozy in the front row of the promenade. They were nuzzling and he appeared to be kissing her neck. They were laughing and cuddling ---- definitely not just friends, lots of whispering in ears and giggling. No way it was a buddies' night out with the boss. They seemed to be having a great time. Is a new behind the scenes romance in bloom? Stay tuned. Contributed by LDB

For those of you who have been campaigning to bring Cady
McClain (ex Dixie) back to All My Children, McClain has written a very
heartfelt and personal blog explaining the situation of her firing, how
she reacted, and the reasons she believes it may have happened. She
also puts to bed some rumors and requests that instead of fans flooding
the show with phone calls, they should send snail mail if they are
unhappy with the way things turned out for Dix. Read Cady McClain's entire blog, "Deep Sigh." Soapdom wishes McClain the very best in future endeavors. We will miss her in Pine Valley. Contributed by CL & LMS
