Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Lee Bell and Bill Bell (co-Creators, Young and the Restless)As The Young and the Restless prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary  later this month, no one is more surprised than co-creator Lee Bell, who along with her late husband, the great William J. Bell, have created a television dynasty. Bell spoke to Buzz, saying, “I just really can’t believe this. I am just totally surprised that we’re (show) still here. When we started Y&R, I would have never guessed we’d be today still around and on the air.” Buzz asked what she attributes to the success? “Well, I will tell you.Bill wrote and kept up with the times. The show not only has great characters, but they are also interesting and exciting. I also believe our show was way ahead of its time in writing various topics and issues.” Buzz must add that many years ago William J. Bell said that the purpose of his show was “To entertain, inform, and educate. That’s what this is all about.” Contributed by MEW

Jeanne Cooper (Katherine, Young and the Restless)Jeanne Cooper, who has played Katherine Chancellor on The Young and the Restless for the last 34 years agrees. “Oh it’s all about the flow. Heck I can’t believe I’m still here. I’ve lasted longer here than in my marriage,” Copper joked. Cooper also believes the powerful storylines and the characters are what has kept the show afloat. “Take me (Katherine). I love her. I make a connection to the audience,” she said. “I also enjoy breaking the age barrier. Everyone thinks that when you hit a certain age you can’t function anymore, and I’m out to prove them wrong. In life, one must take action and sail through the water.” Cooper said that she loves her storyline, and that she enjoys being the powerful person she is, and now the business side to Katherine is coming out, which is great. “It’s just a joy to be on such a show, and play such a part. Here’s to 35 years more.” Cooper said the show will have no official celebration, like a party at a grand hotel. “You know, it’s no secret that daytime is suffering and fighting for its life. Instead of throwing $150,000 at some hotel, it’s better to sink it in the show and keep people employed. If someone wants to bring a dish to the set, that would be fine.” Contributed by MEW

General Hospital and GH: Nightshift's Kiko Ellsworth and Danny Arroyo are now working together on a film called "Street Warrior." The filming just started. It will wrap sometime in April.  Contributed by LMS

Jeff Branson (Jonathan, All My Children)Speculation that Jeff Branson (Jonathan Lavery, All My Children) would soon be history in Pine Valley is somewhat exaggerated, according to the actor. Yes, Branson's contract is soon to expire, but he is in negotiations and the door has not yet been closed for him. Fans are now mounting a campaign to keep Branson around Pine Valley.  One AMC fan recently saw Branson at a charity event in Florida. According to her account, "he let the fans know that his contract is coming to an end soon!  But that the rumors in the soap mags are still just rumors and he has not been let go yet!  The writers have seemed to have forgotten all about Jonathan and when they do recall - they don't have a mature storyline or a real romance for him!"  She continued by saying that "Jeff loves working at AMC and I think that we fans need to let the writers know how just much we love Jeff!!!"  So, fans of Jeff Branson, get on the band wagon. A campaign is now underway to keep the actor on the show. To jump on board, send in a six inch ruler to ABC (get the snail mail address here ) requesting that they write a storyline for Branson that "measures up."  It is the initiator's belief that perhaps ABC will donate all the rulers to local schools.  She concludes: "If we bombard them with rulers and letters, perhaps they will finally give Jeff an age-appropriate love story and grow up Jonathan."
