This will be a chance for soap fans to not only experience a live comedy/soap opera, but see what their favorite real-life soap stars do when they’re caught with their “scripts down.” SoapScum: Legacy follows the passions and perils of the Riverton family and their vineyard - a place where everyone is beautiful, but jealousy flows like wine.
This is the second annual charity event benefiting The FunHouse: Home of San Diego TheatreSports, and its youth programs. The FunHouse has been a leader in improvisational education and is currently taking their expertise into the school systems with after-school arts programs that are so desperately needed due to budget cuts. With the success of last years event, The FunHouse was able to offer after school classes focusing on improv training into 3 high schools - teaching them cooperation, creativity, confidence and character while developing their own fundraising programs. All proceeds from their shows help support their respective theatre departments. A first time week long summer camp was held for teens, as well as a summer workshop and an outreach show at a teen center. The FunHouse strives to offer as many scholarships as possible; this year will hopefully bring the program to more high schools as well as middle and elementary schools.
The performance will take place on Saturday, Sept 23, at 6:30 p.m.
in Hollywood, CA at The Renaissance Hotel. Ticket prices are $30, $55, and $75.
Live auction with collectible merchandise and a “Meet and Greet” with the stars including appetizers and no-host bar will follow the performance.
For Adrianne Leon, who plays smart and sassy Colleen Carlton on Y&R, SoapScum will be a prime opportunity to flex her comedy muscles while poking a little fun at her daytime home turf. “What better way to turn a soap inside out than let the audience make the rules?” she says.
“Ever wonder what would happen on a soap opera if the audience was in charge of the show?” asks FunHouse Artistic Director Trenton Shine. “This years’ guest stars think they’re prepared for anything,” he smiles, “but just like last year, when it comes to improv comedy, all you can do is expect the unexpected.”
