Heather Tom (Katie, Bold and the Beautiful)Monday, November 30 to Sunday, December 6 was the Coalition to Pass Health Care Reform and Stop Stupak's National Week of Action. Soap stars on both coasts gathered to show their support and sign the petition. On the west coast, Heather Tom (Katie, Bold and the Beautiful), Kate Linder (Esther, Young and the Restless) and Jackie Zeman (Bobbie, General Hospital) met up in Hollywood.

On the east coast, Bree Williamson (Jessica, One Life to Live) and her colleagues Scott Evans (OLTL), Roscoe Born (Mitch, OLTL), Melissa Archer (Natalie, OLTL), and January LaVoy (Noelle, OLTL) gathered to show their support.

The Coalition to Pass Health Care Reform and Stop Stupak is a broad group of advocacy organizations from the progressive and women's health communities, whose goal is to ensure that health care reform is passed and does not restrict women's ability to purchase private health insurance that provides comprehensive reproductive health care, including abortion.

The actors signed and urged their fans to sign the coalition's petition demanding that the anti-choice Stupak amendment is not included in the final health care reform legislation.

In an exclusive interview with Soapdom.com, Heather Tom opened up about the cause. "This is regarding the Stupak Amendment which was added to the House Health Care Bill," Tom explained. "It is basically a middle class ban on access to abortion. What we are saying is that women cannot be worse off after Health Care reform than they were before Health care reform. This petition is really urging members of the Senate, because it is coming up in the Senate now, to NOT include the Stupak Amendment on the final bill."

Soapdom wants to know how everyone else can help. "Everyone else should call and write and email their Senators and tell them that women's healty is important to them and theat we need and deserve comprehensive health care coverage," said Tom.

Days of our Lives makes history with first gay male wedding

The big day finally has come! Days of our Lives made history, and it was no April fools joke. The show is known for its long standing reputation for having storylines that are firsts, or tackling controversial subjects, or going out on a limb. I mean who can forget being possessed by the devil? Well! The show just aired the first gay male wedding making the first such event in daytime television.

The story was handled impeccably, and done tastefully. The same sex relationship has been moving slowing through trials and tribulations for the last several years.

First there was the acknowledging who you are. Then the accepting, and finally the coming out. And now the jubilant wedding of the duo known as WilSon. Will Horton (Guy Wilson) and Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) is taking the relationship into orbit, or like the old original Star Trek show said, 'to go where no man has gone before,' at least not on a daytime drama.
