AnnaSophia Robb as Carrie Bradshaw in The Carrie DiariesSex an d the City became a major franchise for HBO. It ran from 1998 to 2004, spawned two feature films, and made mega stars of Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon.  Based on the novel by Candice Bushnell, the series broke hearts when it came to an end.

Now Bushnell is at it again. She's written the Carrie Dairies, the prequel to Carrie Bradshaw's single life in Manhattan.  This early Carrie is still in high school and is fending off her younger sister, her school rival, and  navigating coming of age in Manhattan.

The CW has picked up the rights to the Carrie Daries and has cast it's leading lady, 18-year old AnnaSophia Robb.  Robb was most recently seen in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp.  She also starred in feature films Because of Winn-Dixie, Bridge to Terabithia and Jumper.

Prime time soap opera veterans, Fake Empire's Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Len Goldstein (Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie) will executive produce alongside Warner Bros. Television.

Past Blast

Days of our Lives' Blake Berris on Meth Head

Blake Berris of Days of our Lives in a movie? You bet. The talented actor not only lights up the screen on Days as the twisted character of Nick Fallon that he so eloquently plays, but now he co-stars in "Meth Head" an independent feature film that was just screened in Washington, DC.  -- to rave reviews.

"Yes! I just came back from the screening. I'm still in Washington and I was thrilled to read the reviews in the papers," Berris said. "This film is something I really wanted to do."

Berris plays Dustin, a character who befriends Kyle, the lead character, played by Lukas Hass ("Lincoln", "Inception", " Brick"), and let's just say he leads him down the pathway of life to hell.
